    Stupid question.
I got a blowout last week (didnt hit a pothole) ripped the side out of my gatorskin. I replaced the tyre and noticed a massive buckle so dropped it back to the shop.
I only bought the wheels less than a year ago and the lad in the shop found a crack in the rear wheel(where the spoke attaches to the rim) they are going to try for warranty for a replacement...
How long should they last roughly less than 3500km on them at a guess?

I got maybe 6 months and 8000km of training and racing out of my last pair.

That's low mileage for an askium. I've had the same wheels on my commuter over 2 years now. The front wheel probably has about 15,000km on it at this stage, still as true as the day I put in on.

The rear is a different story - takes a real battering (I'm 90kg). I replaced the rear after about 10,000 km - took too many knocks and getting it trued wasn't cost effective all the time. So have a new rear on about a year now, 10,000km or so later it probably needs truing about now.

Cracks within warranty might get sorted - did you take a particularly heavy knock in a pot hole prior to puncturing?. I have seen these in online forums on the askiums before, but they are generally regarded as a pretty bomb proof wheel..

They might not last as long when your looking for an excuse to replace them.....

Thats the thing hands up if I did......thats what makes it odd.
The front would be banjoed too??
See what the shop says in fairness I never asked about warranty, or spotted the crack I only dropped it in to get a buckle fixed.

I would expect over 20k km and more. In my case the rim brake surface gets worn before anything else happens.

This is what happened mine, seriously solid set of essentially disposable wheels, despite having to hold my, ahem, large build....

I've found that using koolstop salmon brake pads has pretty much put a stop to rim wear. My front aksium still has the wear slot looking sharp and black all the way around after about 2 years of constant commuting (and braking). My previous front Aksium had worn out by then using black BBB (or similar) pads.

I have 8,000kms on a pair on my second bike. Replaced a few spokes but otherwise no problems.

I have had mine since 2008, have replaced the bearings. Used them everyday commuting the last 2 years and for a few cyclocross races. Still going strong.

How long does the warranty last and does it really cover you for hitting a pothole?.

I presume as I started this thread your questions Cramcycle are directed at me or it a general question?
1 year at least I would expect for warranty due to manufacturing defects depends ont he manufacturer some offer 5/10 years depending on the product but I would imagine each individual case has different circumstances and outcomes so impossible to have a conversation or debate on the issue.
As for hitting a pothole presuming your question is directed at me my rear wheel didnt hit a pothole.
