    Hi,

I am in the process of booking a holiday to Thailand in September. I have no clue about Thailand and I was hoping somebody could give me information about places to go, things to see, nice hotels and expenses? We are also hoping to visit Vietnam and maybe Cambodia . Would they be worth our while? We are looking at going to Thailand for two weeks and only a few days maybe 4 or 5 max in the other destinations.

    Thanks,

    Amarno

search the travel forum and you'll find dozens of threads on SE Asia, including Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
What kind of a holiday are you planning, trekking/adventure, lounging in the sun? Bangkok is a great city if you don't mind the chaos, Chiang Mai up north is known for hiking and trekking. There's an Elephant Nature park, Tiger kingdom and the town has character.
In the South you have a choice of islands. We went to Phi Phi on honeymoon for a few really peaceful days in the sun, it was paradise.
If you only have a few days for another country, I'd recommend Vietnam. It's amazing and there's so much to see. Sapa rice fields in the North or a cruise on Halong Bay. Dalat and Hue are also popular and I believe HCMC is also quite an experience, as haven't been.

With such a short time I'd stay in Thailand, I'd start in Bangkok get flight to ko Samui for a few days from there to Phuket for a few more and surrounding islands on both islands. Head to Chang mai and back to Bangkok.
Vietnam and Cambodia need way more than a few days,we came back from vietnam after spending 6weeks there and still wasn't enough!!!
It all depends on what kind of budget you have, you can live cheap our splash a fortune if you want, the thing about the Thais they'll squeeze as much € out of you as they can, it's not the cheap and cheerful place it once was. But for the first timer you'll enjoy.
