Some of you know I had my eye on something the last few weeks and been mega excited about it even though I was doing college exams...:pac:

Anyhow here she is, I could not be happier that I get to call this my own car at the ripe old age of 20....:D

    1996 Alfa GTV 2.0 CF1

    140k miles

    No tax/NCT/insurance

Black half leather interior and with original GTV overmats ()

    No service history at all

I viewed this car about 3 weeks ago and knew I had to have it, so I did! She's sitting proud in the driveway as we speak beside my 156 and she'll be cleaned and washed tomorrow.

Absolutely over the moon with it, apologies mods for starting a new thread, was way way too excited...

RJ lost his bet too if any of ye remember...;)

That's cute; a workmate of mine had one from ew then his girlfriend (who already had 2 kids) got pregnant so he swapped it for an Espace. She was less committed than he and he ended up with the Espace and no kid or girlfriend. Not sure what the moral of the story was but his was a fab car in 1999.

    Well wear man,

Not my cup of tea, but its clearly your pot of tea, so, enjoy and happy motoring

    Edit: Got an interior pic??

If its anything like the one in your 156 i'm very jealous

Set me back a fair bit but I see it as more of an investment anyway. Whatever about the 156 never being sold, highly doubt I'll ever see this go tbh once it's al done. Will need plenty for the NCT!
For a split second I thought it was a hyundai coupe ;)

Haha, yeah the choice was tough! :D
Woah, congrats! Insurance will be a bomb though?!?!

Thanks man, yeah insurance will be pricey but I haven't decided how I'm going to work it out with the 156 being around too. Could make for two very expensive policies. Time will tell I guess!

I don't quite understand! You mean newer Alfa's are ugly or older ones? :o

    I think it's gorgeous! :D
Will ye be bringing it to the meet up?

I won't unfortunately, it's not road legal in anyway and the tyres are fit for the bin! At some stage though!

Yeah see I took so much slack for being so biased and wearing rose-tinted glasses I decided to branch out and go with a different brand this time... Oh wait....:pac:

I'll lash an interior pic up tomorrow, but it's got black half leather seats which are super comfortable. As said, it's got the original mats too!:)

What's the mileage like on her?
She'll look stunning when you get her finished.
Insurance shouldn't be that high on it. Liberty quoted me 250 for 3 months on that red v6 156.

Edit. Just saw 140k. How much do you plan driving it if you plan on keeping it for good? Or is it more a weekend car?

...that's cool - and I love the colour - almost the same as my own car - I just couldn't bear to buy a silver/black/blue car......the green is different.

Saw a 147 in that colour lately in Tipperary as well, which was very unusual I thought.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Nice one 166man.

Well wear. Body work looks in decent nick. After the service work is done, might i suggest a wheel upgrade. Something like so:

Yep 140k but the engine is a gem. I haven't quite decided what I'll do with it tbh, I have the 156 as a daily and not sure I'll have the money for two insurance policies but I'll have to see. Might end up letting the parents get the insurance on it for the first while and going from there. I am able to get decent quotes on it though so it's looking good...

I think a little crazy! I had to measure the 156, 159 and Spider to ensure it would fit in the driveway! It has one key and nothing else apart from the registration cert!

Colour is what sold the car for me anyhow. I personally love a nice racing Green, with some work it will look the business!

Consistency is key...:D Ah I investigated the V6 but for a few reasons went with this

    1) Was very cheap for the type of car it is
    2) I think it's gorgeous and will outhandle a V6 due to it's lightweight engine
3 Tan and insurance are reasonable
    4) It's bloody quick enough as it is! Circa 8 seconds to 60 for example...

Body work is excellent for it's age, needs minor work but not much else!

17's Teledials might be an option but I really like the standard wheels...:o Also this car will be staying absolutely standard compared with when it left the factory.

No test since ever I think...And no tax since April 2012 and not an ounce of service history! Feck it service history is overrated anyway...:pac:

Thanks for all you comments lads, really appreciate it. Going to give it a clean up now and will update the thread with more pictures!

Every single car I've bought (5) has never had a service history and all are still going today.

Service history on Irish cars is over-rated imo :pac:

Love the car 166man. Hard to beat the Alfa's for style. Looks in good nick for a '96. Well wear and enjoy.

Cheers folks! I'll be leaving the wheels standard but I appreciate your suggestion Gav and know what you mean. Multi-Spokes would look superb but I think I like the wheels and they are original! :D

Got the bucket and sponge to it today and gave it a wash detar and clay. Looks very well now and managed to really get the wheels spotless. It' heading in the right direction!

Also had Ba Barabus and dgt over looking at it!
