Must say I'm a bit surprised there's been no mention of Randy Savage today considering its his 2 year anniversary.

The following article on Bleacher Report is an amazing read that summerises the key parts of Randy's career and some great info and insights on the last years of his life.

    Enjoy!

PPV last night, RAW tonight, people need time to recharge from wrestling & it's news. Also, too many wrestler deathdays to keep track of. Bulldog's was on Saturday.

True, hadn't considered that. Hopefully some took the time to read the article, its one of the best I've read in a while

And Owen Hart is just over 24 hours away. Very sad. But if we were to do a thread on every wrestler death anniversary...

Owen Hart passed away on this date in 1999 when his harness immediately broke when he tried to do a Sting-like descent from the rafters at the WWF Over The Edge PPV. He died in the ring.

Savage had a heart attack whilst driving. His wife was in the car but was not injured. FYI long term steroid abuse causes an enlarged heart, high blood pressure, blood clotting and a buildup of cholesterol in the arteries which can lead to a heart attack; this weakened heart disposition (plus any painkiller addiction) is a common cause of death in wrestlers under 50.

Would it be better to have one thread that can just be bumped instead of a new one for every person? If you went wide enough you could probably get one a day!

Dave Meltzer mentioned him and that infamous ruour recently. Apparently he was injured while filming Spiderman.

Silvervision has the Savage boxset for about £6 atm.

Remember Owen Hart's death as I stayed up to tape the event for my brothers. Such a tragedy for the WWF as it was back then. Untimely deaths due to steroid abuse or drugs are prevalent in pro wrestling but Owen Hart's death was unreal.

I'd found out about Owen's death in secondary school playground which was wierd because nobody talked about wrestling in secondary obviously  It was on the main British news stations afaik which was big well, in a bad way. Probably the most pointless wrestling death as the Blazer gimmick was to punish Owen for refusing some sleazy sex triangle angle with Debra McMichael.

Vince McMahon tested the zip wire himself that HBK went down on at Mania 12. Owen's stunt was some stupid midcard filler that probably wasn't given second consideration as to whether or not it was a good idea.
