My Employer is looking for Voluntary redundancies or voluntary severance if you like .If the company dosnt get the required amount of people to take it than there will be compulsory redundancies .If i go for it im working for eighteen years and have a Mortgage etc ..So my questions are :
I have Mortgage protection insurance but i assume i wont be able to claim of that as i volunteered for it ?
When would i be able to start claiming Social welfare if i wasn't able to pick up a job straight away ?
What other possible problems could i have ?
Are things alot more straight forward when there are compulsory redundancies?

I took volunteer redundancy, the forms I got were the exact same as those that were given to people whose redundancy was compulsory. The SW probably won't see the distinction, but as for the mortgage protection just read the terms and conditions and see what they say.
