More than likely a custom patch for a team I'd imagine.

The Airsoft Honour Patch/Badge © is to try and promote fair play and honour in airsoft.
    Description
The Honour Patch© is a simple way to promote Honesty, Integrity , Sportmanship and Fair Play to the game of Airsoft. Players will earn their patch by playing the game in the spirit of honesty and sportmanship, the way the game is supposed to be played.
It does not stop at just the above mentioned facets, from the safe zone to the game field it will encompass all aspects around airsoft, from obeying site rules to general conduct, having respect for your fellow players etc. and to guiding new players in the game.
We will have three tiered patches,(It will be the same design but in different colours), which will hopefully encourage those who have their first patch to strive to replace it with the next patch , and so on.
Patches are only awarded to players who have shown that they have the right attitude to the core elements of what the patch stands for. They will be free to the player, but can also be removed if warranted due to unsportsman-like behavior or rule breaches.
In short, We would hope that the Airsoft playing community will strive to better themselves and the game with honour and integrity, by proudly wearing their patch, thus showing to fellow players they have Honour in the game.

Red Barn Airsoft and Tigerland Airsoft are starting this campaign initially, and in time hope to roll it out to other sites, once a trial period has taken place.
It will aslo be covered in SitRep Online Magazine.

I've got one;), and I got mine in Redbarn. It's an initiative started by Damo Dobbyn to encourage fair play and sportsmanship, not who is the best shot or gets the most kills (I'd never get one if that was the case!).

As you "prove" you're a fair player and honourable on the field of battle, you move from the base green patch to a silver and then a gold. Of course, if you're caught acting the maggot and not taking hits or being aggressive, you can lose the patch. It's a simple idea but a good one as those who earn the patch, like to hang onto them.

See it here on my arm

Hate to intrude , but dave , how does that system work.....the marshels can hardly see your every move? Just curious.

You have a point mate but as you never know when the marshals are looking at you, you tend to be on your best behaviour anyway. The patches are only handed out after the marshals have taken note of how fairly you play, when you take hits (that you might have "gotten away with"), how you interact with other players on the op force etc. And it's not just the marshals who are keeping a eye on you either as some older long time players also have the power to award patches. I thought it might be a clique-ish thing, ie patches for the "lads" but from what I gather, even some long time players at Redbarn have not gotten them for one reason or another.

At the end of the day, airsoft is all about honour, playing well and taking your hits. Ideas such as the patch system can encourage this but if some player wants to be a cheater, avoid taking his hits and being aggressive, then no patch will ever make up for him being a muppet.

Except a muppet patch....just an idea.

Its also to do with your conduct off the skirmish field as well.
How do you act in the safezone.
Being friendly and helpful to your fellow airsofters.
Making sure your AEG/GBB is safe in the safe zone.

A lot of comon sense stuff really.

I think it is a great initiative, and was delighted to have been presented with the silver honour patch last weekend at Redbarn:).

what sites in Ireland participate in this, anyone got a list? I'm assuming a site has to sign up to it and then the patches get given out on behalf of the organisation by the site

Fingal and Redbarn are the 2 I know of. I think Rebel Airsoft in Cork are involved in it also. There are also certain people involved who visit random sites awarding them as they see fit

So how long does it take or what else do you have to do get that gold patch?.

While I think it is a good idea don't get me wrong, I don't need a patch to prove I play with a bit of "Honour" nor do I need someone deeming me that I do so to speak.

But as far as promoting good conduct goes it is very good. But at the end of the day, each person knows how or what way they play that's all that matters really, not something to add to your real estate, although to be fair who does not love a patch?.

The sites that currently have it are Whiskey Delta "The Manor", Fingal Airsoft, Tigerland and Red Barn. I've to get to a couple of sites down south, L.A.C. and Rebel(who have requested it). All the info is on the FB page.
I agree with Southern Dandy that we should not need a patch, but its really only to encourage new and exsisting players to constantly strive to play fair and uphold the rules of every site. Similiarly sites who wish to be a part of it must meet the basic requirements as on the FB page.
We also have an "Ambassador" who regularly plays numerous sites and he has a supply of patches and will award them to players after a chat with the site owner.

If you earn a honor badge can you wear it on any site or just the site you were awarded the badge on?

I fondly remember the day I got my brown wings first honour patch i recall a couple of the youngsters inquiring in redbarn how they go about getting one the next week and they seemed like they wanted to aim for it. so i guess if it instills that sense of honor in them and it rubs off on others it can only be a good thing.
