Surprised it was not written by Cllr Danny Healy Rae who labelled the volume of deer as 'a blight on Kerry' at the end of 2009. But seriously I would wonder where his angle is coming from because he is all over the place, sort of like a Kid on a Sugar Rush, either that or just poor journalism :pac:

This part of the article has me wondering
"People who agonise about the pain of a deer dying slowly of gunshot wounds might spare a moment to compare that death with the agony of prolonged starvation. I’ve seen such agony in a deer on the lawn of a neighbour’s house in Glenmalur, in Co Wicklow. It was barely able to get up and stagger away when I approached."

Firstly: "Dying slowly from Gunshot Wounds", image_zpsa8a850cc.jpg

Secondly: "I’ve seen such agony in a deer on the lawn of a neighbour’s house in Glenmalur, in Co Wicklow. It was barely able to get up and stagger away when I approached"
I would not rule out TB myself, I will suggest it in a few emails along with a few other points

Certainly is an article that would have you wondering what his angle is...obviously is not a hunting man and also obvious that he is not one that is out and about in the country and seeing first hand the decemation of deer stock both by poaching and by over hunting.
One of the biggest issues facing all people who have the genuine interest of deer populations in mind is the sale of venison to game dealers. The minute you bring money into the equation the deer suffer from the greedy amongst us who then hunt for money not for the meat for the table.
I am afraid I for one am very sceptical of the so called task force that has been put together to sort out out deer populations...there are too many people involved who have more than the good of the deer on their minds for my liking...call me sceptical but once more when you bring money into the equation you won't always get un-biased opinions at the end of the process...and there is a lot of money at the end of this process...
