    Hi all
Im trying to find out if its possible to get a VRT quote from NCTS using just VIN number?
Im trying to get a answer from them but keep getting the "we cant say for sure until we see the car itself" drone answer. Then told when they see it they will input the car details (including VIN) and get a quote from the revenue.

VRT revenue site will only cover standard cars. Im looking at UK cars which would have different and in some cases considerably higher specs to the irish car.

I am not asking for an exact quote on VRT, just a range for that model. Dont want to buy a UK car and suddenly find im been hit for an additional 3K over what i had budgeted for :D

    Regards
    Altreab

Normally if the VIN is not on the NCTS database they just revert it to Revenue who then come back with a figure. They will have access to what extras were fitted from the factory, etc too. I don't think Revenue will accept queries from the public either so it has to come through the NCTS which afaik means they need to visually inspect the car.

Factory fitted extras for VRT purposes are depreciated over 4 years so for example, a 2 year old car with extras will have the VRT rate calculated on 50% of the original value that Revenue put on the cost of the extras.
