Wheel balancing: Inner indicate a value of 6

Hi all, I installed my new tyres and got balanced in a shop in blanchardstown last Thursday, and since then I found the steering is quite shaking. since the guy I used scratched my wheels and was threatening me when I back to him regards the scratches, so I didn't go to him for rebalance.

I went to a local shop near my work place in Naas. and ask them for balancing my wheels, what I found is the 4 wheels which supposed to be balanced last thursday were all above a value of 30 (inner).

One question, I found one of the wheel's inner indicate a value of 6 while they are doing wheel balancing today and they just leave at that value and not going down to 0, but will this affect the drive? Cause I feel a little vibration through steering wheel(greatly improved since), feeling got strong while accelerating. Any idea? Also is 6 (inner value) ok as balancing result, what does 6 mean?

    Thanks.

sorry , cant tell you about , is it going to be ok, but as far as I am aware, it all has to be " 0 " , however in most garages, when i was doing balance left 5 , said, it wont affect driving.

I hate those tyre places, cant find descent one.

In my experience, before balancing, wheel needs to be washed, clean from any dirt, and no any old weights on it , but unfortunately nobody follow this.

vibrating with time will damage steering linkage and will be damaging other parts. I cant recommend anyone for balancing, but next time , when ill have to balance wheels, i will be taking them off, clean through out.

    Thanks Mar4ix.

Yes, I agreed. Most place do not follow the rules like clean and wash the wheel.

I've never seen anyone clean the tyre before balancing (on the other hand I keep my tyres pretty neat) but everyone I've been to remove old weights first.
OP, I can recommend Francis if you're in Galway.

Thanks biko, but I am not in Galway.

Maybe I just go back to where I just left and let them to balance to 0 rather than 6.

yes nobody in tyre shop goin wash wheels, i think thats more owners responsibility,, but they have to refuse do balancing, if there muck on, as after a while it will fell off, and wheel will not be balanced.

seen places, that they not take off old weight, just put new ones. it makes me sick .

Also balancing machines , dont know what speed they do when do balancing ,by the speed, looks like something 20 mph , not sure it is enough to properly balance wheel.
