The Love To Lounge range, comfy nice for wearing around the house after work/ a day off.

Night wear, same stuff in Next for double the price.

SunShimmer Tan a lot cheaper than Boots.

Everyday tops, the same price as Zara.

Anymore you can think of :)

I must be one of the few that don't feel much love for penny's. they are responsible for about half of the badly fitting clothes people wear. I'm starting to think that more expensive clothes aren't that bad because then people actually make an effort to try them and think twice before they buy.

Tights. Their multipacks of opaque tights (navy, brown & black) are my little buddies.

Long sleeved jersey/cotton tops for layering.

Some fantastic fitted dresses there too, stood the test of time of washing at high temperatures.

Shoes are another one, got a very expensive pair from Office that acted as bacon slicers for the back of my heels, same style shoes slightly different colour in Pennys were perfect. Only €70 in the difference ;)

One thing sizing in Penny's (like Zara) can be a bit off, so I always try before I buy.

I very rarely buy anything in Penney's. I think it looks and feels cheap, and it just doesn't wash well.

However, I am not a dedicated follower of fashion, I live in jeans, nice hoodies, some officey stuff for work and leave Penney's to the teens and young 20's age group that its aimed at. Makes me sound ancient, I actually dress too young for my age but like my expensive surfy stuff.

Jammies, tights, slippers and hair stuff are my usual penneys purchases. Find their reduced sections very good and have picked up some great bargains over the years.

Used to buy clothes for the boys there when they were younger but find the older boy/men's sections to be poor. Still buy jammies there for the youngest though and slippers.

    Hair stuff,pyjamas and tights.
I bought wellies for the kids there too.

I adore Penneys for lingerie, tights, shoes and cheap accessories. Sometimes I pick up a few nice dresses or tops, but I think in relation to clothes, they've gone downhill the past couple of years and have really increased their prices too.

Nobody is responsible for the ill fitting clothes people wear but the person themselves.

The only bad thing about penny's is that half the country wears the same stuff.

Personally I love the fake fingernails. They look well and last me well over a week.

So handy for belts or jewelry as a quick fashion fix!

The plain, long sleeve tops actually wash really well, I find them perfect for work to wear under dresses or t-shirts.

I've two "leather" dresses from there that people always compliment me on, both cut very well and have lasted long over a year.

Obviously the PJs and slippers, everyone loves them :D

I buy the cotton pads too for make up removal.

It's true, nobody can force you into buying something. But because they are so cheap people buy things because they are cheap and not because they suit them. I'm not a label snob, I shop sometimes in pennys (great for hair bands), still I do think that the cheap disposable fashion is not good for the environment, working conditions of people making the stuff and often people buy things that don't suit them.

I'm too old to be Penny's target market, they offer great choice for under 25's and even when you are on tighter budget, you can find something there. I just wish they wouldn't fuel the whole disposable culture, where the quantity is way more important than the quality.

Tights. The tights are greats there..better than Dunnes/Marks/etc I think.

    Socks.

    Ermmm..

    That's about it :P

Oh sunglasses! Because I just lose all mine. And they are all less than 2 quid.

Loads of my friends get Penney's clothes and look great in them, but they don't suit me. Not made for my shape.

And the bras are too big for me too.

I'm the same - well as regards their clothes anyway. I just think they fit really badly and go out of shape so fast; I'd rather spend a little bit more for better quality (but not pay a fortune either!).

They're grand for things like socks and baseball caps for going away if you want to cover your head from the sun :o, or for cheap bags and jewellry but I would rarely buy clothing there.

Everything except jeans (never fit properly) and tracksuit bottoms (need a longer length, one size length is too short and I'm only 5'3!). Oh and the 6 euro work trousers and the plain work shirts, horrible feel to them. I've worked there and I own a large selection of Penneys clothes and accessories that I still wear with no issues a few years later.

I rarely buy anything for myself there, they just don't fit well on me at all.

One of my favourite jackets is from there though, it's a fake tan leather jacket which was reduced to €9, I had to get it taken in a bit but I really love it.

I did get some fab cork turquoise wedges in there recently for €18 which are so comfy and seem like very good quality and a sleeveless cropped denim shirt in a pink acid affect which I love and the fit is fine on that because it can be tied on the bottom but apart from that I haven't bought clothes for myself there in years.

They have some lovely stuff for little kids so I buy some stuff for my little girl there but the older kids stuff is a terrible fit, don't know about the older girls stuff but the boys stuff is terrible, really long baggy sleeves on the boys tees that come down nearly to their elbows, they just look awful.

George at Asda deliver here now and I have bought quite a bit of kids stuff from there recently and the quality is excellent.

    Pennys in great for.....
To see all the scumbags in there on social welfare day filling their trollys yes I mean trolleys with clothes .

Spending all of their easy earned money while us tax payers fund their shopping. ......

I highly disagree with anyone who says that the quality from the high street shops are
    better quality then Penny's.

just speaking from my own experience - any items I have bought from the likes of top shop, Zara, RI , I will get the same length of time out of them as any of the items I'd buy from Penny's.
Lets be honest, no matter where an item of clothing is from there is only so many times it can go into the wash and still look "brand new"

    It's all about branding IMO.

Penny's is great especially their summer range.
Love how they have the little summer dresses for little or nothing.
Love their underwear, pj's, casual clothes (t shirts, canvas shows, sandals, leggings, hoodies).

I'm also someone who likes to wear jewelery to match my outfit :o
    - Penny's have a great selection of costume jewelery for little or nothing.

    Wow. OK. Chip on shoulder?

I find Penneys great for cheap jeans, tshirts, jumpers/hoodies, and cheap summer shoes. And not to mention when it comes to fancy dress time. Penneys and charity shops are generally the first places I look.

I buy shoes there, especially pumps. Its great for pyjamas, underwear, tights, bags, and tank tops too.

The jewellery is great value too and I always buy my eyelashes/fake nails there, cheap and cheerful :)

No it is not. Polyester is great at keeping shape or color in the wash. It is also one of the harshest materials to wear. Does that make polyester better than silk? Not in my world. Besides materials itself tailoring, the quality of stitching, little details like buttons make huge difference.

I'm not saying that other high street brands don't sell bad quality clothes. They very often do, Miss Selfridge and Awear are at the top of my list for low quality, but plastic Penny's shoes can be compared to leather ones and tailoring and detail of their clothes can't be compared to some other brands. So no, it's not all about branding.

Penneys is great if you need a quick fashion fix, like a necklace, pumps or even a bag. I tend to get my pumps in there and just string vests or long sleeve tops. I have bought blazers and dresses from there before and they have fit me well. I quite like Penneys I just haven't seen any I really like in a while.

I guess it's no secret that for the most part no high street shops actually design or make the clothes they sell & that they buy them from manufacturers that they all have access to (and that you could probably bulk buy directly from your self through Ali Baba) - so for example I've gotten tops in Penneys that were also on sale in Topshop (not similar tops, the exact same one). I've bought a jacket in A-Wear that was also for sale from a Dunne's concession & there's a jumper with rhinestone detailing on the shoulders for sale in Forever 21 at the moment that was for sale in a different colour (lemon yellow instead of mint) in the Savida range at Dunnes this Spring. So while I'd totally agree that a lot of clothes & shoes from Penneys don't have the same quality in material, manufacturing or tailoring than other high street shops (how could they when they're so cheap) there's definitely stuff there that's of good quality compared to what you buy for a lot more money elsewhere.

Sometimes I look at stuff for sale in more expensive/"higher quality" shops like Dorothy Perkins that are just the dress making equivalent of cutting a head hole & 2 armholes in a pillowcase and threading a length of elastic through the middle of it and though the clothes might be pretty I can't understand how anyone would spend so much money on something so poorly made when they could get the same thing in Penneys for half the price.

Boots and scarves are my favourites there.

Sometimes it's not the same clothes.

The tights, underwear, socks etc are great as others have said. The clothes can be hit and miss, I've bought things there that have lasted well and others that just fell apart in no time. There is definitely an element of luck with the clothes when it comes to sizing, they can be really weird at times. The accessories are great too, very reasonable.

I have to disagree with most posters about their shoes though. I dunno if I just have oddly sized feet but their pumps always cut my heels to pieces any time I've worn them. I do have a pair of boots from there though that are very comfortable.

Also they do fab hats/scarf/gloves combos for Winter. They will probably be in stock any day ;)

Wilson socks. The only socks worthy of my feet.

The lounge range is good as are tights, especially the thick warm winter ones- such a good selection! I also get vest tops. I've gone off their underwear- I've come to the conclusion that its not worth the money. I've gotten knickers from penneys and from top shop and m&s and the penneys ones are in tatters with the elastic all saggy in no time while the others last longer. I used to wear bras from there before I had kids but since breast feeding their bras don't fit me properly and are uncomfortable. I almost never buy other clothes there because the fabrics are so horrible and everyone has the same stuff. The shoes look nice but hurt my feet.

Bio-oil is 7.50 in Penneys - same bottle is 11.50 in Boots

I got some lovely summer macs there last year, nice pop of colour when the weather's rubbish

I'd never buy underwear in penneys again, I find it rubbish. Pumps in there can be ok, if they fit properly.

Their tops and dresses can be great, if you're willing to do some hunting. A lot of them aren't, but there are good bits in there. Still loving my 7 euro polka dot skater dress that does not look 7 euro worth and fits very nicely :)

Cheap facewipes maybe or sporty socks, that's the rest of it

As regards menswear - Penny's are great for underwear and denims. Some of their branches have a great selection of jeans including skinnnies as well as matching denim shirts and jackets.

I used to get really nice dresses there, even got a lovely black one there a few years ago for a wedding. But now I find Penneys never have any nice dressy dresses, just t-shirts, plain tops and cardigans- and any dresses they do have are really plain and casual.

I still buy stuff there but not as much as I used to. Definitely think the stuff isn't as nice there as it used to be.

    Essence nail polishes.

    Socks.

    Flats/pumps.

    String tops.

That's about it really. I don't like the majority of stuff in Penneys.
