Anyone else find Ed Byrne so not funny on GrahamNorton’s show Friday night? (17th May); not even entertaining orinteresting. I was never a huge fan ofhis before but I thought he made a total as* of himself in front of the other guests, and in front of the UK and Irish audience. He kept butting into the other conversationstrying to be funny – failing miserably each time.
Maybe its me? Maybe I'm missing something? Is he always like this?

I used to like him. But I like you found him
Embarrassing the other night. I actually felt sorry for him I thought he was out of his depth .

I've always found him insufferable, and for that very reason. Seems to be a trait of some Irish comedians. The Panel used to be a mess, the guests were always butting in on each other, trying to out-do one another and get a laugh.

Not a fan of his but a lot of comedians who appear on Graham Norton do the same thing, particularly when big stars are also on the show.

On The GN Show the other night he did mention that he'd had abdominal surgery and he looked flushed throughout the show. He just probably wasn't feeling that great but felt he had to make the effort.. or something. I'm not even a big fan of his, but he has been funny during previous appearances on the show.

He was way out of his league, just glad he's not on irish tv, the landgrabbers are welcome to him.

The looks Baz Luhrmann was giving him was funny (even though Baz couldn't move his forehead), don't think Baz knew who he was or what to make of Ed :P

His "doing the gee" anecdote seemed to go down well with the international audience. I think Fisher actively cringed at the definition.

I've not heard that expression before tbh. Must be a Swords thing.

*daydreams of running hand-in-hand with Isla Fisher in slow motion along Summer Bay beach*

    Hmmm...huh, wha?

There were other people on Norton's show?

I'm not a fan of Ed's either but I did feel very sorry for him the other night. It was obvious wasn't well and that he was still recovering from his operation, he probably should have cancelled.

I found Ed to be ok. Not great but not terrible either. So soon after abdominal surgery though he shouldn't have been on it but the complaint people are making that he kept butting in is a bit odd. This is something the token guest comedian does every week.

EDIT- I've heard gee in use in Waterford anyway so definitely not just a Swords thing

ya I like Ed Byrne, but he was just annoying on the Graham Norton show...

    Daniel Radcliffe was waaaaaaaaaaay funnier

Not a fan of his either, but this was probably the unfunniest I've seen him be on any show. He was a bit annoying alrite.

Looking at the line up by this Friday, they may invest in a bigger couch! Will Smith and son Jaden Smith, Michael Douglas, Bradley Cooper and Heather Graham. Plus music from Selena Gomez who will have to try fit in at the end! 5 main guests rather than the usual 3, some lineup though!

Daniel Radcliffe is hilarious, seems like a really nice genuine guy too. The kinda lad you'd want to go out for a beer with.

It could have been worse; it could have been Jason Byrne.

Bit off topic, just for a sec if I may..... but this is surprising to me, given that it was reported this week that Jaden wants to be emancipated from his parents at age 15

He is/was a regular on Mock The Week only because his best mate Dara O'Briain is the host and probably has him ask the producers to get him on the show. He even made reference to the fact that hes only ever on that show on british tv during a 'scenes wed like to see' one night when he remarked that channel 4 never book him for any of their panel shows.
Also when Dara was asked to do a segment for the BBC during Katie Taylors olympic final Ed Byrne was in the entire piece.

OT but the lad in the red chair had a good story:D Only cought the last five minutes of it so I didn't get to hear any of EB thank fook. Isla Fisher was also a guest.

Ed Byrne is about as funny as a bunch of piles. Him and Jason Byrne are insufferable. How either gets airtime is beyond me.

Thought his alanis morissette joke was good but that was years ago now.

Unfortunately he does to seem to recycle a lot of his old material.
He doesn't even try to hide/re-jig it or anything, it can be the EXACT same joke, word for word.

In fairness to him though, besides the operation issue, the whole group interview/large red couch schtick that the GN show has is quite frankly cr*p, IMHO.

I actually don't mind Jason Byrne's stand up, pretty frenetic and I can see how it would rub someone up the wrong way.

Ed Byrne on the other hand is painfully unfunny. I used to hate when he was on Mock The Week. The other panelists reactions to his attempts testify that they were of a similar mind.

yeah I would be of the same opinion.. The above sketch is absolutely class, and extremely clever.. But he's never achieved anything even approaching that any time I've seem him before or since.

He had a really good sketch about getting up in the morning and the 'sleep gambling' ivolved; where instead of hitting the snooze button you turn off your alarm but tell yourself you will just sleep for another few minutes ..!or something along those lines! I'm not good at re-telling but it was brilliant. It Was on youtube a few years back but then disappeared and never seen it since:confused:
