You know what we need, we need another Self Aid benefit concert.

    Self Aid
Self Aid was a benefit concert held in Dublin, Ireland on 17 May 1986.
The purpose of the concert was to highlight the chronic unemployment problem in Ireland at the time, with nearly 250,000 people unemployed. The 14 hour concert was the largest that had ever been staged in Ireland.

Just like we've always done, lets make the unemployment and emigration problems we have vanish, by drinking and singing them away.

So we'll get Louis Walsh to organise it, we can have Westlife, Sharon Corr and if there's any surviving Dubliners left to play for 14 hours, that'll fix everything.

    Who's with me???

"The telethon raised millions of pounds for a job creation trust fund as well as over 1000 job pledges"

I wonder is there any info on what actually happened to the money and if those jobs ever came to fruition?

Is that from that awful Christy Moore song that was written for Self Aid? I vaguely remember it. Me being so young and all. ;)

I remember the last one and I'd rather soak my feet in battery acid than listen to it again.Don't know if anything was gained or where the money went for that concert.

Get a few lorry trailers, pack a safe country tribute band on them, some dodgy folk to sell cowboy hats and flashy crap, and hand out some Mr. Freezes.

With almost twice as much unemployed, do we get a 28hr concert? Sure that's as long as a festival weekend. Why don't we re-brand Oxygen or something? It worked for Witness.

You obviously missed his self-aid version of 'Maggie's Farm'.

    Never again.
