Wedding Venues in the Midlands

    Hi All,

Just recently got engaged and am looking for some nice venues in the Midlands region. We reckon we are going to have about 200 at the wedding and are looking for somewhere that isn't just your standard hotel wedding i.e. country house etc. Have looked at wineport which we both think is fabulous but it's a little out of our price range (looking at about €40-€50 pp) plus they wouldn't be able to cater for our size wedding.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I've been looking for 2 weeks now and starting to get a little stressed about not finding the right venue!

    Thanks

Wineport is nice but the layout is strange I thought. I have worked and been a quest at the nearby Glasson hotel and golf club and was very impressed with it. The food and service were very good and they would have room for your numbers I should think.

with all due respect if your looking at something that isn't a standard hotel i.e, a country house like you say that holds 200 people and 40 yoyo a head is out of your price range you can forget about it.

No we are looking of a budget of €40-€50 a head, wineport is nearly €90 pp and out of our budget range. Have looked at some packages in other hotels and €40-€50 seems to be a reasonable budget. I'm just looking for a suggestion of somewhere that might be a bit different that I've never heard of.

Thanks sweetie, was looking at Glasson Country House and it seems like it might be what we are looking for. Do you know what the accommodation is like there?

It might be too standard for you but the Heritage in Killenard does a very good job.

You could try Kinnity castle, it's supposed to be magical for a wedding, i don't know prices though :)

We're getting married here next year:

It's basically glamping and a barn dance! Definitely not traditional but utterly fantastic and they could do your price :)

I looked here and I really liked it, thought it was right up my street but OH thinks it's too hippyish. :(

It wouldn't be ideal in the rain, the deck down by the lake/summer house was lethal the day we were there. I will definitely go back to stay though.

Oh shame, friend's fiancé vetoed it for the same reason! We probably adore it for that reason, we couldn't find any great non-hotel options for under €80ish a head.

The Millhouse was our other option but it's more expensive, maybe you could tell them your budget and ask if they could work with it? www.themillhouse.ie

    Best of luck!

Have you tried theThatch Cottage in Ballycommon? They don't have accomodation but the food and service is fabulous in their function room, you have the place almost to yourselves and it looks pretty. Plus you would have a bit more control over everything. Maybe it is a bit too far away distance wise but well worth a think about. Or in my case i was planning a small family wedding and a giant party in a function room in a bar afterwards. Makes budgeting easier.

    Hi,
We're getting married in Kinnitty Castle 2013 and looked at a lot of venues in the midlands - country houses. Numbers are an issue for quite a few of them. Most take circa. 140 max. Kinnitty can take more and can be done within your budget (without loosing too much, esp. if you pick your dates right). PM me if you want more details. Good luck!

Was looking at Kinnity the other day, it looks fab. I'm just a little worried because I found out that they have gone into receivership.

Thanks a million for all the ideas. Going viewing a few places this weekend, we may end up going for a hotel wedding due to the package prices being offered in other nicer places and just spend more money on the booze and the party atmosphere!!! :D

So I did a wedding in Mt Druid last night. Wow! Such a cool place and vibe. If I were getting married now I'd seriously consider it. Worth checking out.
