At Limelight Group we have an opportunity for 10 musicians to complete a line-up for our new band the Essence. The Essence have 10 gigs booked in the calendar already and we are pushing very hard here to fill these positions.

    We are seeking:
    2 female singers
    1 male front-man
    A trumpet player
    A keyboard player
    An Alto saxophone player
    A Tenor Saxophone player
    Drummer
    Bassist
    Lead / Rhythm Guitarist

Our style is rooted in disco, motown, a touch of soul and all the modern classics.

We will be playing mostly weddings and some Christmas parties. You could be working as soon as June if we get the line-up complete.

Contact me for a list of dates. If there are dates for which you are not available please let us know as this will exclude your application.

Our website is complete. Our music video is complete. WE PLAN TO FILM A NEW MUSIC VIDEO AS SOON AS WE HAVE THE LINE-UP COMPLETE.

LL Entertainment have guaranteed gigs goin-a-beggin'. 40 in year one, 60 in year 2, 80+ in year 3. LL Entertainment own and manage bands - we are not a booking agency of multiple acts.

This is a fairly NEW BAND which we at LL will own and manage. All of the costs associated with setting up this band will be ours. This band will immediately benefit from other bookings that we need to fill. We have a method for booking gigs which works and the work is legit and guaranteed. We invite our clients to monthly showcase events as part of our system. LL Entertainment are a prompt paying, professional outfit interested in five-year agreements minimum. We set up the band, we do all management and bookings. You just turn up and do the gigs.

If you are a ready established band with a half-full or more calendar this is not for you. If you are in a good band, with a fairly open calendar then get in touch.

We are immediately seeking talented, experienced, professional musicians to set up this new 10-piece wedding and corporate band which will benefit from our agency enquiries.

We are looking for the following musicians to complete the line-up. This is a good opportunity for working musicians interested in paying the bills.

Professionals only please. If you think you need extensive rehearsing please don't consider this position - The application is specifically worded to attract musicians or a band who are good-to-go.

This is a sight-reading position: We have all charts here and can get charts immediately for any new music.

The band rehearses every second Wednesday and we showcase in Dublin on the alternate Wednesdays.

    A. You need transport.
    B. You need Pro-gear.
    C. You need ten years full-time proven experience.
    D. You need a positive mental attitude.
    E. If you sing it's a bonus.
    F. You don't mind travelling to events nationwide.
    G. You don't need extensive rehearsing.
    H. You won't need to 'dep' out any of our gigs.
    I. If you inclined to complain disregard this entire add - it's aimed at musicians who want to work in a cheerful, organised and professional environment.
    J. You need to sight-read musical notation. (This is not a requirement for the singers).

    The Line-up will include:
Front-Man - Excellent Singer / Entertaining, Charismatic, presentable
Drums - Someone who can stay in time with properly tuned kit (Singing a bonus)
Bass - See above (Gotta be a singer too). Tone very important
Lead Guitar - (Gotta be a singer too). Tone and taste a must
Keys - Synth-y kind of person required. Gotta be a singer too

We have our own PA and Lighting show.
    We have our own DJ.
(Though if you have abilities in this regard please mention it also).

All musicians should have ten years experience playing the wedding and corporate circuit.

CV's and Questions ONLY TO: kerry@limelightgroup.ie

All applicants will be treated with the upmost confidence. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks,

    Kerry Clarke-Highland,
    Office Manager
    Limelight Entertainment

Wow. Fairly straight forward requirements there! Should be really easy to find 10 musicians that meet those exact specifications all in time for the first of 100's of paid gigs from June onwards.

The whole thing seems very odd? How do you have a video and website with no band members? How do you have gigs booked and no musicians?

    Anyhoo .. hilarious post!

If you find even one member for your group with an ad like that, I'l be amazed.

Saying you want people with ten years proven experience really shows you don't know how to evaluate people. You sound most likely jaded.

Also saying you don't want complainers, most likely means that you're very fussy and inconsiderate.

Hmm. Generally, the attitude that everyone out there is a messer will bring you a lot of bs. Be easy going, but realistic. You'll get a lot further.

Not wanting "complainers" is not a hundred miles away from saying what almost every poster here says...i.e. no time wasters.

Granted, the OP's requirements are on the ambitious side, to say the least. However, I cant understand why people are getting their knickers in a twist over it.

What's wrong with aiming high ? The likelihood is that he is not going to come close to getting what he wants. That's not his fault. No harm in trying.

IMO, the fact that it is regarded as over ambitious to ask for top notch musicians who can sight read, is no reflection on the OP, but shows just how sadly lacking this country is in supplying them.

Dont shot the messenger ! ;)

    Hey Guys,

I flew in from LA a couple of months ago and am a multi-instrumentalist. Now that I've found my feet in this country I'd really like to play in this type of outfit. Who do I send a CV to? My background:

Studied in Berklee Boston, Film Music and Music Therapy Major. Have played with - Pat Methany, Louis Carboloni, Steve Lukather, David Paich, The Scissor Sisters, Underside Outside, The Thompson Twins (Don't Ask...), Regional Generator, Once Upon a Time in America.

I'm really interested in jazz, acid jazz, soul, hardcore krunk. Basically anything that makes a body move!

Anyway, hit me up with the deetz and we can make what sounds like a good thing even better.

Nothing I just find demanding ten years experience to be ageist, I've nothing against skills!, my gripe is that one could have the skills and not exactly ten years experience playing live!, some people will be better in a few years than other people will be their whole lives even if they spend their lives playing professionally!. =)

To me, "complainers" is overly negative, it would be much better if he said "people who are serious and professional but enthusiastic and like to have a good time" , that being said, this is a private ad and I'm just sticking my nose in but I'm just saying that the word "complainers" sets off alarm bells of poor working conditions, even if I know how frustrating it is to deal with moany, unenthusiastic people, it's always better to be positive and nice to people even, especially if you have high requirements and are going to be passing over a lot of people. That being said I'm feeling a bit pissy today and am enjoying have a good 'aul complain myself haha.

Hi, I would like an email address for whoever is responsible for limelight's booking please. I have tried numerous times to contact Shane on the phone regarding potentially booking Hot Topic but he is un-contactable. I am a little bit anxious as this band is exactly the same line up as Hot Topic and certainly hope that another band, imitating the one I saw in Cafe En Seine, aren't going to be fobbed off on me.

OP is Simon Cowell behind Limelight? Judging (excuse the pun) by the strict criteria for applicants there has to be one hell of a music mogul behind it. Not even sure Simon Cowell can make music videos without a band. Impressive.

Fair enough. I accept your point here. However, I would interpret "ten years experience" as being the OP's way of letting people know exactly the caliber of musician he is looking for.

If a person with say four years experience thinks they are up for the job, there is nothing wrong in telling a little white lie and say they have ten years experience. Whether they are indeed up to the job, will all come out in the wash, if/when they go for an audition. The OP looks for "proven experience". No better way to prove what you can do than by auditioning.

The vibe I am getting from a lot of posters in this thread is one of inadequacy. :P

You are presuming a lot here. If someone is enthusiastic and confident enough in themselves they are not going to be put off by the "complainers" remark. No one knows or is in a position to say what the working conditions are. If they go for, and pass the audition I am sure that all the working conditions will be revealed. If the new band member does not like the conditions, then he can decide if he wants to proceed or not. Putting obstacles in the way at this stage is ridiculous.

    Anyone seen the website?

This is not what music and entertainment is about, I would run a mile from this.
