M14 magazine catch problem

Today, I thought I'd try the sniper role at Redbarns WW2 day and so I brought along my Marui M14 with scope attached. All was going well and many a long range kill was had, and some close quarter kills too! However the mags started falling out by themselves and upon inspection, I saw that the mag release lever was not "locking" when a mag was inserted. I had to insert the mag and pull back on the lever manually to keep the mag in. However, vibration from firing caused the mags to drop out from time to time.

While I'm just guessing, I think a spring has broken, or come loose inside the gun that attaches to the mag release lever. Can anyone verify this and let me know if its fixable by little old me or would you recommend I drop it in someplace (the Marui M14 is complicated to take apart!)

Fixed it myself by taking out the trigger guard and the mag catch. There was a little bar behind the mag catch that had come loose. By reinserting the bar, the mag catch worked again. Quick reassembly and M14 back in full working order.
