Before I buy I just want to make sure. I'm looking at this jacket, and while it's not specifically for cycling I'm wondering will it fit my needs.

I want something that will keep me dry from rain but not make me sweat too much. It has to look half decent. I cycle to the city a lot to meet friends and hang out so I don't wanna be going into restaurants looking like I'm half way through a training session.

seems perfect! with a 10 metre hydrostatic column! - thats about as waterproof as you can get. hard to see how heavy it is though so thats the only possible drawback of buying online

Nice..I tried it on and it's fairly light...Think I'll plumb for it, €70 seems decent. There's a similar one with 20k rating...might be a bit of overkill....it is only €30 extra tho....

Regatta make good cheap stuff for the outdoors in general but if you're looking for a good jacket to cycle in you should prob look elsewhere than regatta, something lighter and more breathable would be a better idea. Also I appreciate that you want it to work socially but maybe black not the best idea? Albeit you can prob get best of both worlds by attaching lights and reflective strips to whatever you get

Penny farthing Camden st Dublin have a decent range of casual cycling jackets.

    Like this perhaps : http://www.madison.cc/mountain/mens/jackets-and-gilets/trail-softshell-jacket

I think you'll be too warm cycling in that (based on just looking at the photo you posted), especially as the temp is warming up now for summer.
I'm getting too warm lately cycling in my altura waterproof jacket, which is as thin as paper, but bit sweaty in temps >10°.
I'm also a big believer in spending money only on clothing I've physically tried on to see how it actually fits/ looks.
My 2c before you splash your cash.

I have 2 dhb rain jackets and 1 waterproof gilet. I think they are great and great value.

Better cut than the regatta one. More cycling friendly.

also my 2 cents, in your situation if I was doing any kind of serious intensity training in it, I wouldnt be using the same jacket to go to restaurants in regardless if it was washed or not. if it was used for around town for low intesity and duration one thing. But not....no just no, and restaurants! ick! people have to eat there :o:s

Lol...that made me laugh...I've visions of myself trotting into the Unicorn for a pre theatre meal in my gear dripping of sweat, skinking and out of breath :D

I'm more the 60% effort cycle into town for a lunch special and coffee....It's a bit of a strange one for me..the obvious answer is probably staring me in the face but I'm a bit blinded...
