    Hi all,
Ive been offered a position in London which I am going to take, and start in a couple of weeks. I have a contract but dont have my NI number or a british bank account. I was just wondering if I went up to Northern Ireland could I get the process going with the NI number and sign up for a bank account up there, rather than having to fly over to the UK for a day next week to do this, as money is tight?
    Thanks for reading

You need to call the Jobcentre Plus to explain and get an appointment. It'll take a couple of weeks for the appointment to come through though.

So - probably isn't worth it until you get over. But call them first. What bank were you thinking of setting up with? You'll need a UK address for that. Do you have one yet?

hi there i contacted the jobcentre hotline in England they said I could just walk in and do it, so thats why I was thinking maybe I could do it up North. I do have a UK address I can use, could I set up a bank account with a british branch up North?

I don't see why not, if you can provide proof of address. Well done on the job offer, and best of luck!

*shakes hands and hope the luck rubs off!*
