Rangemaster ceramic vs induction

    Hi all,
Currently looking to fit new kitchen and shopping for a cooker. Veering towards a rangemaster but just want to know essentially what is the difference between induction and ceramic.
According to shop assistant induction only uses whatever part of ring has something on it it if the pot only covers half of it then half of the ring is on. Induction also cools down quicker and so would be safer with children.
However I would love to hear from someone who has either.

    Cheers,
    shhling

    Induction is vastly more controllable.
It works by heating the pot/pan with rapidly alternating electromagnetic fields.

The pot gets hot, the hob doesn't produce hear. Essentially it's turning your pot or pan into an element.

We've had a De Deitrich induction hob at home since 1999 and its still working absolutely perfectly.

    Upsides :
Controllability similar to gas in most respects. Very fine adjustments are possible and there's no residual heat.

Cleanable - the surface of the hob doesn't produce heat so in general nothing burns into the hob surface. A wipe cleans it.

Auto stop: if you remove the pot, the induction system pauses cooking.

Instant power: pots heat in seconds. Like you'll take a pan from cold to frying temp in under 30 secs.

    Downsides :

You can only use stainless steel or cast iron pots. Other materials don't heat at all. You'll just get an error message.

Aluminium pots for example are useless

It's also a lot pricier to buy.

    Personally, i think they're a fantastic device. I wouldn't be without one!

It's as good as gas without the flame, smell, fumes and ugly and difficult to clean burners and damage to your pots.
