Taxing import first time online

VRT'd my UK import last week. Inpector told me I must pay my tax online with 24 hours (or else the world would end, or possibly something more distressing)

The following day the registration number was live on the motor tax website so I paid my 56 quid. No sign of disk after 5 days so when I went to track its progress this morning, I get a notice saying the vehicle cannot be taxed online because the vehicle's details have changed since the last motor tax reminder

On checking my bank a/c, they have of course relieved me of the money though.

So is this just a one off, can classic imports be taxed online after their VRT, or does it have to be done with the RF100 form?

Providing the details are logged correctly at registration, first time taxing can be done online. The only one I didn't manage, is when they put the wrong stat code in and it showed as the wrong make/model

Yeah, It did show as the right make and model before I went to pay it, so it must be a fúck up.

I'll ring 'em tomorrow and see can I get it done without the hassle of form filling.

Disc gone AWOL in the post by the sound of it as the motor tax website allowed the transaction and took the money.

    Question 8A from https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/staticContent.do?page=faq
8Q. How will I receive my tax disc/Vehicle Registration Certificate?
8A. Your tax disc will be issued by post within four working days. In the case of the first taxing of a new or imported vehicle, your tax disc and Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC) will also be issued, separately, by post within four working days. You can track your tax disc request by clicking the track disc issue link on the home page. You may check the status of your Vehicle Change of Ownership Transaction by clicking on the View Transaction Enquiry Link on the homepage.

If your disc or VRC does not arrive, or you have any other queries about your transaction, please email motortax@dttas.ie, quoting your vehicle registration number.

Did you receive your Vehicle Registration Certificate? (they only issue that after first taxing)

Sorted. Irish tax book and disk arrived today, both from Shannon. I would expect the disk sooner as I normally get it from my local CC office, but since I did it online, it came from Clare.
