    Hi There,

We are looking for an au pair for an elderly couple for a period of about 12mths. We have had a look at a few websites & registered with one or two but there are a lot of scammers & as this is new to us we are very nervous about their legitimacy .

Looking for advice & recommendations :)

    Hi Amtrev,

We run a similar programme but you really have to be careful about the agency you choose. Many of the agencies and online platforms are now using the au pair for senior option as way of putting forward unsuitable candidates. This means that they do not have the right experience for children and are being put forward as a Senior au pairs.
Chose an agency who have been in the business for a several years and are reputable. Any agency who are members of IAPA or the Irish Au pair Association will have a minimum standard. I would suggest you stay well away from any online placements. Online placements are dangerous - you have no way of knowing if the paper work and documents are legitimate and you also have no support during or before the placement.

What you need to remember is that an au pair for senior is really only for companionship and supervision. There should, at no point, be any medical requirements involved.

    Hope that helps!
