Cycling version of Couch to 5k?!

    Hi there,
    I don't actually own a bike yet but I'm enjoying spinning classes and found the couch to 5k programme good to begin running.
    I'm thinking of doing two thirds of the Kilkenny sprint triathlon this Summer (not swimming, maybe next year! i've a friend who might do that part of it as a relay)
    I was wondering is there a similar programme to C25k for cycling anywhere online, or could anyone tell me how much effort I'd need to put into getting ready for a 15km cycle considering I do spinning 1-2 times a week but have never cycled much on a road

    If you are already doing some spinning than you should be able to do 15k tomorrow morning.

    I like the spinning bikes at the gym I go to, the odd time I use the gym itself I seem to find the different stationary bikes they have kind of hard going, maybe the distance calculator thing it has is inaccurate but the kilometres don't seem to clock up very quick at all!
    Guess I'll just have to choose my bike & get out on the road :)

    Cycling Ireland are setting up a bike for life programme which runs for 10 weeks, which is their equivalent of fit for life. Alternatively Marble City Cyclers do beginners spins, the Monday night ones have progressed a bit but the Thursday night ones have bail out points.

    I started cycling just based on distance around my area, i.e 5km on a certain stretch of road and back then two laps for 10k, then outside the area to a certain point for 15k, further down the second stretch of road and back for 20k then adding to that by doing half a second lap etc.

    I just done each for a few weeks and progressed when I felt I wanted to do more. If I had a plan like C25K I probably would have progressed much faster, it also makes it easier by pushing you to something you might find difficult, i.e Week X Day 1 but that you can adapt to quickly such as Day 2 and Day 3 then moving to the next week before you get too comfortable.

    On a side note I'm just about to finish Week 4 of Couch to 10K this week :)
