theres a rotten smell coming out from under the sink, comes and goes every once in a while. the dishwasher is connected up to one of the pipes under the sink, could this have anything to do with it?? there is another freestanding pipe at the back which has a cap on it and i think the smell might be coming out of there too (or maybe thats the only place, can't seem to narrow it down).
any idea what it might be??

You don't supply much info. But making a complete guess. It's most likely not e dishwasher unless th connection to the hose has come loose.

What it might be is if you follow the white waste pipe to the ground it usually goes into a 4" pipe and there is a black rubber adaptor at this point that can come loose,

Outside that the seal on the counters might be allowing water through.

thanks for the reply joey, been away since i last posted so took photos today to show the pipe in question. the one in question is on the right with a cap on it, i can't see where it goes into. my wife did a mr muscle drain clean and it hasn't done much tbh. i'm wondering if i should call a plumber or someone from munster drains (if there is even a difference!) to look at it??

Is the cap on the pipe tight and sealed or just left Down on it loosely?

just checked there and the cap seems to be on tight and sealed. theres no smell now but am pretty certain the problem is with it or around that area

Check the overflow off the sink I've found these to fill up with gunk and stink as they are above the water trap

Sorry to hijack your thread but I'm having the same problem! Our kitchen is only 1 year old. We're both out at work all day so the sink doesn't get much use! There's a smell of stale water every now and again. Checked under the sink and everything seems fine, no loose connections. When we run the tap the smell goes. We regularly clean the sink. Is it just because we don't use it enough and what can we do about it?
