Hi. Could anyone tell me how I could find out if there is a judgement registered against a property? I believe a bank has registered one against a relative of mine about 15 years ago (they are not quite sure of the specifics).

Would it be publically searchable information?

That's what I was thinking. They said there was some kind of judgement placed on it where if the property was sold they would have to pay the money back(as when the judgement was made they could not afford to pay it) not sure how long a judgement would last.

Thanks I had a look at the Land Registry and saw it there its actually 16 years ago. How would I go about canceling this charge? i.e. if they wanted to sell the property?
I also saw the original mortgage registered there as expected. This mortgage was paid off a few years ago would you not expect that this mortgage would be registered as being paid on the land registry?
