    I have the 1.7 and it has more power than the 1.4, I love my Astra, none of them gave me any trouble :) try and get yourself a few extras if you can ;)

    yeah, the 1.7 diesel is a nice jap izuzu unit, belt driven and can do the miles.

    The DMF like all diesels give trouble, but you can get a solid flywheel for them if need be.

    Consider the 1.3 unit too, its a fiat engine, chain driven, fab fuel economy and good power too for the size of them (when up and running)

    Are they that good them engines. Is there much power in them. Finding it hard to find one in red.

    Mileage seems right on the Astra in the OP. Was just shy of 200,000km in June last year.

    Looks to have been serviced roughly every 30k. Only thing on the history that's out of the ordinary (Service, Tyres, Tax) was that someone put Petrol in to it around about 155k, but that was sorted and didn't appear to cause any further issues.

    Had a full service, discs and pads and a new alternator at 200k, so should be good for a while longer now.
