Which Combi box would you recommend for occasional use?

Yes, yet another "which box" thread.

I am putting a TV/receiver set up in the spare room for occasional use. Got the aerial and satellite cabled into it recently.

I would like a combi box to cut down on amount of wires, and my only real requirements would be:
    1) Reliable
    2) Be able to record the very occasional programme on to USB drive or external HDD.

I don't really need one with built-in HDD, any overly fancy features as it will rarely be used.

So, which one would you recommend?

Would also be open to just a TV that would be Saorview/FTA satellite and PVR ready, if I could get one for a decent price.

I have an ariva 250 and a skybox f3, I'd choose the ariva over the skybox. It was however nearly double the price.

The Skybox F3 is NOT a combo box. Sat only.

Yeah the Ariva was one of those I was seriously considering.

Was just interested to see if anyone recommended one of the Walkers or 4ife's.

I think I'd probably pick up a 150 relatively cheaply now, since its fairly old.

Isn't the Ariva 152 the updated version or does it make no difference?

If you have an existing TV then the Ariva would appear to fit the bill.

If you intend to get a TV anyway, then this might be suitable

Another vote here for the ARIVA 150. Great wee box IMO.

I like the idea of a TV that is capable of receiving both Saor and Sat, and allowing me to record.

Would certainly do away with all the mess of additional boxes, cables etc, but my big concern would be the brand. How are the Walker TVs?

I would like the whole package but maybe in a bigger brand name.

I have the Walker WP645TS-HD as a secondary box. It can record via USB and has the advantage of a 7-day EPG on satellite with the latest firmware. It is quite slow on the sat channels however.
