    Any ideas/advice regards bolus treatments for parasites in calves?

    Cydectin la is meant to be as good as a bolus. 1ml per 100kg injected into the base of the ear. Meant to last the season. Have not used it yet. Never used a bolus

    We used boluses for a couple of years back in the nineties. We never had heifers as much in need of extra feeding over the winter as those years. I would take a lot of convincing to use them again. We've been using an ivermectin for the past couple of years combined with an albendazole from time to time to keep a bit of pressure on the fluke over the grazing season. That's working well so far.

    Ditto,.................would not recommend. Animals need exposure to worms etc. I don not agree with fixed timed worming for the same rwason do as required. A good leveo of stockmanship is required and move calves every few days in front of older animals would be my advice

    how long are they out on grass, ?

    agree totally with delaval calves need to build a certain degree of self immunity otherwise they will have no resistance in later life
