basically ... 72 frames per roll. That's pretty much it :-D Two frames take up the same space as one frame normally takes up, so each shot is 18x24mm, hence the name.

Interestingly* the first still cameras to use 35mm sprocketed film ran it vertically and used the same format as the movie cameras of the day, 18x24mm :-D When the first cameras came out that ran the film horizontally using a 36x24mm frame size they were known as double-frame cameras. Then 36x24mm became the more common and 18x24mm dropped out of favour. When 18x24mm came back INTO fashion again due to the increasing quality of emulsions, it was dubbed 'half frame'.

    *or perhaps not, YMMV

I've got a couple of them actually. One of the interesting things to do is to try for diptychs of some description. I.E. link the two shots somehow in the one 35mm frame. The format kind of lends itself to this, with the two portrait oriented shots side by side.

Yes you can but the processor won't distinguish the half frame shot and will just process the two shots together. So if for example you get a colour roll developed it will only show as 36 pictures but each will have two exposures (easily cropped to give the individual pic).

    Together...
