Hi guys. In need of some info regarding grants. When I left school in 2007, I was taken on as an electrical apprentice. I completed phase 2 & phase 4 (2010) but was laid off due to no work. Now I hope to go to college to study a higher cert in business (level 6). Can anybody tell me if doing an apprenticiship will block me qualifying for fee's and/or the grant?

Any help would be great, currently applying to SUSI. Thanks in advance :)

Based on what you posted you should be ok. Usually you get a FETAC level 6 cert if you complete an apprenticeship and you can progress from a FETC level 6 to a HETAC level 6 as the HETAC courses is viewed as being at a higher level.

If you don't have any third level qualifications already you should be ok for free fees.
