You've seen The Hangover 1,2 and 3, you've seen 21 and Over, you've seen Project X, you've seen that rip off of The Hangover with the black guy from Scrubs and you've seen that rip off of The Hangover starring that guy from that boy band, now see the ripoff of The Hangover feating some of the most respected geriatric actors working today.

    That just looks embarrassing tbh.

Remember when the name "Robert DeNiro" seemed like a positive, something that might make you a little more interested in the project because, hey, if DeNiro's in it it might be decent? Now it's the total reverse for me: if I learn DeNiro's picking up a paycheque, the reaction is broadly similar to discovering Rob Schneider features.

He just seems to jump from one turkey to another; you have to wonder what the thinking is, if any, behind this terrible recent CV. He doesn't even pop up in big marquee pictures, just this succession of multiplex fluff & filler. I am curious if it's a personal, professional or business decision.

Looks ghastly. I look forward to having to sit through this trailer at least a dozen times over the summer.

As an aside, someone recently reacted in shock when I told them I hadn't seen any of The Hangover or Fast and Furious films. They said, "Do you not like movies?"

Hangover isn't bad but part 2 is terrible. As for the Fast and the Furious, they're not half bad with part 5 being one of the most enjoyable blockbuster's in recent years.

The Fast & The Furious films are watchable popcorn fluff. I liked the 1st film for what it was, thought the rest were pretty muck but then was pleasantly surprised by the 5th film.

Anyways, this trailer felt unsettling to watch those actors in something like this. The amount of material all of them could've been put in a film together and it's a "wacky & ceeeeerrrraaazzzyy" Vegas film.

As for DeNiro, he's just been spending the better part of the past decade shìtting on his career. Any new film I see him in I'm instantly weary of it.

The 5th F&F film is lots of fun, and I say that as someone who really dislikes the series as a whole.

    This looks woeful though.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of good things about F&F5. I'll get around to it and The Hangover eventually. The latest sequels for both look pretty bad though.

New trailer still don't make it look any good

Saw this today and enjoyed it well enough.

Not a masterpiece nor does it break any new ground but it has some funny moments and doesn't descend into too much sentimentality/schmaltz.

Good to see Kevin Kline on the big screen again too.

Watched this last night. I thought it was a good film with some good lol moments and a proper storyline.

Certainly better than any of the hangover movies as it is not as outrageous. Definetly funnier than the latest anchorman film

Passable enough stuff, this wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be but is a film Im never going to revisit again.

Then again so is American Hustle ;) .

    That said;

    5/10

Thought it was very good with a lot of laughs.

    Funy feel good movie, 8/10!

Honestly didn't find this as bad as I thought it would be, it does have some funny moments (mainly from Kline & Freeman), does tend to grind to a halt from time to time, but overall a passable comedy that isn't as cringeworthy as I imagined it would've been.

Yeah - if you're bogged down in screeners that are worthy and depressing this is the movie to raise your spirits. Its just three pals having a laugh in Vegas. This movie will not change you life or adjust your thinking. You might just look at your father/grandfather in a different light.

Friend of mine arrived back from the US with a copy of this on Blu-Ray. Had no real interest in ever watching this but decided yo throw it on as it seemed like the kind of easy to watch crap that you can fall asleep to. About an hour into it and it's exactly what I expected, a silly, generic and unoriginal slice of cheese. Yet it's strangely watchable and the stars do a great job. I expected them to coast by on their charm but the film is made so much more entertaining than it has any right to be thanks to their spirited performances. It's been awhile since Kline, De Miro or Freeman gave as good a performance and it makes the film far much more than a geriatric Hangover rip off

That's fair going considering it is only available for preorder on any online store that I've seen and that it's not out til Monday next the 28th of January.

    ;)

It was hardly...... Dun dun duuuuuunnnnn...... An illegal viewing!????!

Couldn't be though. We all know REAL movie fans don't do that.

    :pac:

The thing about the US is that Walmart and the like often put the films on shelves soon as they come in It's how my parents brought back Drug Wat for me even though it wasn't due out till 3 weeks after they got back to Ireland. My Dad bought himself a copy of the Zatoichi boxset when he was there and my amazon preorder didn't ship for another month.

Where did your friend pick up the pre-release copy. I must ask my US friends to check for me too. ;)

He got it in Walmart. He also got Captain Phillips, Metallica - Through the Never, Freezer, Best Man Down and The Cat.

I know. Really is great the way all the stores over there just throw up releases as they get them in. I remember getting Series 1 of Lost a full month before it was due out in a Walmart.

Went to see this, twice :o:), really really enjoyed it tbh! Wasnt entirely sure going by the trailer, thought itd be all overtly Hangover type crap then the obligatory smaltzhy parts , but actually thought it was a very very feelgood movie, plenty of laughs, a good story and leaves you with a smile on your face definitly :D

    my feeling too.

i went on the back of word of mouth from a friend of mine who has a similar sense of humour to me (im not a fan of the hangover and comparisons to that put me off)

i thought this was grand and had a hell of alot more charm and heart in it than i expected. de niro and douglas's relationship in particular had me welling up in places.

really nice little film about friendship / family IMO and probably the warmest most likeable role ive ever seen douglas play.

    a feelgood 7/10 from me. :)

I had pretty low expectations, but quite enjoyed it. A good few laughs and very watchable.

Had they cut/toned down the "old man eyeing up young totty" scenes, it would have gone up further again in my estimation. This was a bit of a cringe. Interaction between the guys was far more interesting.

Just wanted to add to the positive reviews for the film.
Watched this the other night with the folks and we all thoroughly enjoyed it .
Excellent performances from the cast ,witty dialogue and a bit of heart .
