Ceremony Options?

Getting married next year, having the reception in Lough Rynn.

As I'm an athiest, the OH is starting to waiver a bit on the traditional mass wedding cause she doesn't want a ceremony that I wont enjoy.

She does want there to be some sort of spiritual aspect to the ceremony though, so doesn't want to go completely down the civil route.

Has anyone been in the same boat before?

Humanist ceremony? it wouldn't be 'spiritual' as there would be no reference to god, but it might be a good compromise for both of you. Looks like humanists will be fully up and running by next year.

You could have a spiritualist wedding, but as an athiest, it might not suit your beliefs - some are more religious than others. You really need to chat to different ones to see if there is one that you can come to a compromise with.

Yeah, we're in the same boat.

Some humanists won't allow you to have any spiritual element to the ceremony. It seems to come down to the individual celebrant.

We're getting Dara Molloy for our ceremony. http://www.daramolloy.com/
I really like what he does. However, he's not registered for civil ceremonies so you would have to do the legal part separately.

We are using him too :) According to his website he has applied to become registered to do the legal stuff though. So it could change in the future.

We've booked a humanist celebrant and they have said that we can add in spiritual/religious elements if we wish to.
