Ok, so I've been tinkering with PCs for the last few years, fixing friends broken ones, my one on many occasions. I have put together a few gaming rigs for friends who bought just parts. I often get gifted slightly out of date PCs and have been living a sub standard PC existence with them for quite a while. I like to think I know a good bit about PCs, but you realise when you go and look at the mountain of CPUs and GPUs available, that there is so much literature and back and forth between reviewers that it's really impossible to tell whether what you're buying is worthwhile. My friends have used Hardwareversand before, but they got recommendations from others on what to buy, and the few PC Gamers I know, their rigs aren't brand spanking new, and they're not really into the tehnical side of things at all, so I'm at a loss for advice. I'm basically an indecisive n00b that is afraid to drop a couple of hundred on a GPU in case I regret it for the next 18 months. I'm a hobbyist, and have friends that are product designers, animators, graphic designers, musicians and gamers that often give me free software, but it's getting to the point where I can't keep up with what they're giving me.

    1. What is your budget? €650, would be willing to spend a little extra if it meant much better value

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Not a current gamer, but would have a stab if given the chance, would like to do some video editing, possibly some work with solidworks and running virtual machines.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? No

5a. If yes, what size do you need. N/A

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? 1920x1080, with possible upgrade in a year

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Not until warranty is up on parts

    8. How can you pay? Whatever, Credit card or Paypal preferably

    9. When are you purchasing? In the next 6-8 weeks

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based?

    * Would like to squeeze in a decent SSD for OS and some software
    * Would like multiple monitors in future
    * Interesting in rendering and editing HD video
    * Tinkering with Photoshop, Vegas Pro, Pro Tools, and a bit of PC gaming.
    * Parts don't have to come from same place, as long as they all have standard warranty
    * Some expansion ports PCIE etc as I like to tinker, as mentioned, so i could add firewire 800 or something if I wanted
    * USB 3.0

Sorry if this is longwinded/n00bish, any advice will be appreciated.
