Penneys is hit and miss for men. You'll find nice stuff in some and then you're looking at orange Chinos:pac: I got there fake vans a few years ago and they made my feet cramp after a short walk

for girls no way. after coming back from oz and looking at expensive out of date, tacky clothes its such a joy going in to pennys i still get excited! ask any girl that lives overseas what they miss most apart from family and friends its pennys!

I love their shoes cheap, comfortable and really nice i got a pair of heels for 15 euro and they look like topshop, always good selection of underwear, swimwear, tops and dresses. there can be some crap but you always find something nice.

I personally love Penneys. Nothing like it back home.

it is a bit overrated for us guys. I pop into it maybe every 3 weeks or so to see if there's anything worth buying. it's good for professionals for shirts, ties and trousers but yeah theres' a good bit of rubbish in there. Nothing casual shirts, tees or jumpers that ya'd wear on a night out. Also after buying footwear there in the past your better off buying the real thing. eg. i'd wait and get lacoste plimsoles from lifestyles for around 50e rather than pay 10e for ones in pennys. same with vans. I did find some nice skinny belts in there a few weeks ago though so its worth popping into

Agree with the above post. Although, I bought two pairs of their chukka boots in January and they're both still going strong. Not bad for €16.

The men's section is rubbish; the lingerie section is usually bigger than it! However I'm a woman and it's definitely not over-rated for us; especially for their shoes and lingerie!

No idea about the mens section, but I do think the womens clothes have gotten very expensive. Penney's is around the same price as New Look or H & M, but both of those are much better quality than Penneys.

I got a nice Ramones well fitted t-shirt in there like 3 weeks ago but yeah some of the stuff is just poor. but i remember about a year ago they had a great selection of stuff. whatever though its far removed from what it used to be in a good way!

The girls, something like 1100 of them in Bangladesh, the few who survived, and some who were rescued, would be really interested in, why you can buy clothes in this country so cheap at their expense. Ms Heffernan is a multi millionaire, will she make a donation towards those slaves in Bangladesh. If and when she does, I want to see the reciept.

As a woman, I love Penny's, you can't beat it. But to get anything for the OH or my son, it is really difficult, maybe one or two good t-shirts but nothing else. Even their girl's section is way bigger than the boys.

I'm going to go against all the other women here -

I don't like Penneys. They don't do my bra size, so lingerie is out for me. Their underwear are crazy sizings (a 14 is hanging off of me, but a 12 is too small), and tbh I hate most of their clothes because of quality. Got a cotton dress there a few weeks ago, one wash and it's literally falling off of me because it's been stretched out too much (and yes, I washed it properly!).

I use Penneys for getting flats for work, because I'm on my feet all day and fly through flat shoes, so just get cheap ones. I get t-shirts and tank tops for working out, and I'll occasionally get some jewelry.

In general, I only get clothes (non-working out clothes) there if I'm stuck for something to wear and need to get something ASAP, because there's a Penneys down the road from me.

I'm not a fan either, there is a smell of plastic from the entire shop. I'd buy 2nd hand before I'd buy from them, the quality is awful. I spend a bit more and usually get years out of my clothes.

I have Penny's clothes that have lasted years compared to the brand names which barely lasted the season.

Naaaah, sure One Direction wear Pennys stuff or have in the past and they look better in that than some idiot who is decked out in full hollister gear.

Penneys is a good shop for those into fashion because its cool to see how you can make an outfit for cheap. going into tommy hillfiger and spending 110 euro on daddy jeans and more on some sweater is not fashion.

I don't think it has become overrated so much as that the quality has just gone down so it doesn't meet the hype any more. For women's clothes I find it awful. The cuts are bad, the sizes are all over the place, the material washes out very quickly. This is quite recent, as some of my "old faithfuls" that are in the wardrobe and still not letting me down are from Penneys a few years ago, but I rarely find anything decent in there any more as regards clothes.

That said I love it for the cheap costume jewellery etc, stuff that you'll only wear a few times but it's fine because it cost you €2. The multipacks of earrings are great as well. I have to say I love it for the home section - things like duvets and sheets which are well-priced and some really lovely ones to pick from, as well as bales of towels which are cheap and cheerful, which you need when you're stocking up the house. When I lived abroad it was the homey stuff I missed it for.

said this on another thread on this forum and I'll say it again :p - I honestly don't see any difference regarding quality from high street and Penny's.
There is only so many times you can wash an item of clothing before it loses that "brand new" look - no matter how much it was or where it is from.

I'm only speaking from my own experience I shop high street and penny's and that's my opinion. It's all about branding.

If I had €500 to spend I'd sooner go mad in penny's buying loads of different shoes and outfits and maybe one nice dress from top shop, river island, Zara etc rather than spend €500 on 2 or 3 items in high street shop.

    .

Same could be said for some high street shops. Zara been one of them!

I find their tshirt sizing in men confusing a lot - their small is usually the equivalent to a medium somewhere else and their mediums can be the same as a large. Also its increasingly annoying and difficult sometimes to find jeans in my size - I much prefer 32/30 or 32/32 - think there's only once in the past ages that I found jeans in 32/30.
