130bhp turbo in 110bhp TDi

    Hi,

I am absolutely clueless when it comes to cars, apart from what I have picked up due to previous car problems and listening to their potential solutions or searching the web based on knocks I think I hear - so please excuse if this question is off the wall.

    I have a 03 Skoda superb comfortline 1.9 TDI (red i) - 5 speed.

The turbocharger seems to be going, as it makes whistling sounds when accelerating and is leaking oil, which I believe is being pushed back along the pipes as well as showing oil spots at the exhaust pipe area.

I have an offer of a 130bhp turbocharger, and was wondering if it will fit my car ???

Thanks in advance for any assistance

IIRC they are the same turbo's just at different states of tune, so should be ok, how much are you getting the turbo for and is it a recon? Also I think your car has the 100bhp PD engine.

    €100 - and I don't believe it is recon

Need to know the engine code of your car
Also need to know the engine code that the 130 turbo is from? Or even better the exact markings on the side of the 130 turbo.

Chances are that it'll fit though the pipework may not be the same size.

Have you checked your own air and exhaust pipework for leaks? A leak between the turbo and inlet manifold will give the symptoms you describe, and is probably a cheaper fix.

Bring all the pipework. Did you test that turbo for play?

Whistling can be a number of things, a minute crack in the inlet pipe work that opens enough to whistle on throttle, can also be a cracked intercooler. Just cover all bases first man! With noticeable oil loss though its more than likely the case.
Just from my own head, I'm thinking would the AFM give hassle with a turbo its not used to?

It has been done, But your turbo is non VNT iirc, the 130 is, They are not the same turbo. With work anything will fit!

I might just leave that one - and try for the right fit.
