Wedding Venue in Leinster

    Hey

Im looking for some venues in the Leinster area for a wedding of about 150 people. We're planning on getting married in Dublin so it would have to be close enough to drive to on the day.

We've looked at a few places such as Trim Castle & Knightsbrook which were both nice but, for us, just didnt have the wow factor. We also saw The Station House in Kilmessen which was perfect but was too small. We'd need to ensure there would be enough accomodation for the wedding aswell so the smaller venues that have b&b's nearby probably isnt ideal.

We have looked around but alot of places have come back with very expensive prices.

Also, do you think there is much give on the prices they offer? I know everyone is saying its a buyers market but the starting price for the majority of these places is very high! (Trim castle was starting at €75).

Any advice on venues and how to approach them to get the best value?

    Cheers

    I feel your pain!

We settled on the station house as we have around 135.
Herself just fell in love with it and that was it!

Price seems to be similar in most wedding venues
    You could try,
    Dunboyne Castle
    Or
    Carton house.

    Regards

I completely feel your pain, I'm looking for a venue in Leinster myself! My numbers are more 110ish so I'm getting caught out with minimum numbers for a Saturday! Cabra Castle is amazing, I think the fully inclusive package is €79 but it definitely has the wow factor. It takes 1hr 20mins from Newlands cross so it might be a bit far?? Did you check out Johnstown House or Tulfarris? Both of them are open to haggling so you might be able to work out a good package for yourselves. Best of Luck! :D

must be 50 threads on here related to venues in leinster. if you use the search function youll get them. build a google spreadsheet.

start ringing them all one afternoon, write the minimum price per head beside each one, if you find one you like a little over your budget , ask is there wiggle room, if they say no, list narrows. (if your budget is 55-60, dont expect them to come down from 75, but while trim castle is nice but theres others as nice in the 60e bracket if you look around)

ask are they available on your day. list narrows
ask about ample accomodation levels, bearing in mind the closer you are to home, the better possability more will go home either through a bux youve laid on (300e) or taxis. list narrows

get it down to 8-10 venues, come back here for reviews.

    youll find one soon enough.

Wouldn't recommend Dunboyne at all. Had extremely bad experience there wih large group staying - food orders all wrong, rooms freezing & they only GD 1 batman on & kept shunting us from one residents bar freezing foyer area to the other & ended up having to sit in the empty (& freezing) " nightclub" . Nul points.

Thanks for the advice guys. Think we're gonna go with Farnham estate. Have heard only good things about it and it looks like an amazing place!! Anyone have any word from that place?

word is its fantastic, you wont go wrong.

But noone from dublin is going home from there, 60-70 minutes drive at least I would have said.

Theres comparable in dublin if you wanted. Is that not 5*? Check out the radisson in stillorgan. you get practically the same thing PLUS your guests can go home if they dont want to spend hundreds on accomodation.

Haven't been to a wedding in Farnham but as a hotel guest it's a nice hotel.
It is about an hour and a half drive.

Clonabreany House in Meath is lovely and would fit your numbers.
Bellinter House might be another option.
Thomas Prior Hall in Ballsbridge looks lovely if you want a Dublin venue.
Summerhill house in Enniskerry is supposed to be nice.
Leixlip House Hotel is nice also.

    Clonabreany costs a bomb,!
So does Ballymagarvey, as mentioned below.

Went to Ballymagavey recently. Very impressive venue. Definately had the wow factor and just past Ashbourne.
