    Hi All.

I am looking to get my HGV licence.
I have been looking at some courses in the UK where you can train and do the test over a 3-5 day period.
Is there any course like this in Ireland?
If I was to pursue this option, is the English licence the same as Irish??

    Thanks in advance

A U.K. license may be exchanged for an Irish one, but I should imagine you'll need a U.K. address to pull it off these days. Between the jigs-and-reels it might be just as handy and not too much dearer to take a few lessons and do it here?

Thanks Jim, It just suits me better to do it over a week.

Proving UK residency to get your provisional will be the biggest problem. Apart from that their test is tougher than ours.

Between the time taken to get your provisional in the UK and do the course you could have it done here. There's nothing stopping you applying for the Irish test and leaving the lessons till the last week, waiting times for HGV tests aren't that long here.
