Quantum Leap turned up on netflix recently - I loved the show as a kid and went to rewatch it. Turns out, it's still brilliant.

Anyone else enjoy the show as a kid?

Loved it as a kid, although never saw it in its entirety. Must download it and watch again. For some reason the pool episode stands out most for me.

Because what was happening wasn't fully explained, there was a real 'WTF is going on' with it, which I liked.

God yes, loved that show. It tackled a lot of social issues in a fairly sensitive way.

Plus, that Lee Harvey Oswald episode was a headtrip in a good way.

I also forgot to mention - the Theme Tune - pure work of genius.

Great show. Loved it as a kid. I used to be able to recite the opening narration word for word (geeky kid :P).

The Lee Harvey Oswald episode stands out in my memory. I might throw on that episode when I get a chance. I didn't really understand it as a kid.

Great show. I always liked the teaser at the end of the episode where they showed you the start of the next Leap. Oh Boy!

I always wondered how much the actors who played Sam Beckett's reflection in the mirror each week received for the two seconds they appeared on screen.

I watched it as an adult with my teenage kid - who is now an adult himself and rewatching it. :D

Make sure you watch it through to the end, some weird episodes there on the last season and the way they wrapped it up in the last episode - will say no more but what a way to end...

Mighty show every Thursday! But was very dissapointed by the last episode and also the way Sams hair started to have this grey streak in the last season(s)!!!!

I remember an episode where at the end he lept, but the girl he was with lept at the same time and she went where he went, and they both knew both had lept. Which got me thinking are there other leapers out there? I dont know if this is making any sense, but we are talking about a ~24 year old memory here.

No need to comment on that, I'll find out over the next few weeks. Need to figure out how to get sound out of my raspberry pi.

Yup, I remember that one! She had black hair I think?

Yep, there was an episode where they got swapped around. If I remember correctly Al went to walk through a cannon (I think?) and he kept hitting against it, whilst Sam was able to walk through a bench (I think?). Im trying to latch on to a 20+ year old memory, so apologies if its slightly off (Although I dont think I am!)

I think there are only 3 on netflix right now - enough to keep anyone entertained for a while.

So want to answer the comment on the leapers - could tell you but won't :)
Would have been an interesting story arc if it had been fully explored.

Was more thinking though of the
    devil
episode - will say no more but interesting.

Im pretty sure I caught the last episode on a rerun in the US, and Im pretty sure
    Sam never made it home...
. I read up on the series a while back and I think it ended before it was due to, like a lot of shows, and so a lot was not revealed, but in some ways I like it that way.

If Lost had been axed at season 4, it would remain a cult hit with people regularly re-watching it to try and figure out whats going on. Instead, it was allowed to play out.

The Simpsons is another one which had it been axed around season 10, could remain a hit classic, instead its on life support.

Quantum Leap. Brilliant show. Loved it. Watched it on RTE2
and BBC2 in the late 80's. It's still shown on SyFy Channel
on Sky. Keep an eye out for it

Region 2 DVDs for seasons 1, 2 and 3 have no soundtrack substitutions unlike the region 1 discs.

Al was cool . Loved how he used to try to catch Sam undressing or in the bath when he was in a good looking woman :D
iirc in just about every single episode Sam would give somebody a roundhouse kick in the face.

In the last season they broke both their rules about not leaping into real people and only leaping within Sam's lifetime. Plus the re-arrangement of the theme tune was not good - though thankfully they restored the original for the finale. I have yet to meet a person who actually likes said finale or how it ends.

So glad I saw this thread. I only said recently I was gonna try and see if I could download it!

    Loved this as a kid.

    it was great.

loved the one where he went back as a black soldier in Vietnam in order to save Sams own brother who died in Vietnam. A female photographer dies instead and her last photo (taken when she was hiding in undergrowth with the soldiers) won a pulitzer. the photo was of a POW being led away by the VC. The POW looks back at her camera, sees her but does not draw attention to her or the other soldiers. The POW was Al who went on to spend years as a POW.

When Sam sees the photo he says "why didn't you say anything, you could have been free?"
Al taps his head and says "I was always free up here"

great scene and great story line think it was a two parter - the first episode shows Sam and his sister and brother before his brother goes to Vietnam and Sam signs Lennons "imagine" way before it was written to his sister

edit - found the scene where he sings to his sister also the 2 part episode is called "the leap home" and available -just follow the links on the right of the clip below of Sam singing

    Love that episode myhorse.

Someone once said (after an episode of Quantum Leap - possibly that one)

"We should live our life as if we were re-living it"

The episodes with the evil leaper were memorable, she was undoing everything Sam did and had her own version of Al. the one where Same leapt into the body of a chimp in a testing facility was good, and the Stephen King episode was funny.

The one where he was a test pilot was great also when he was a wrestler, and the pregnant woman, I can't remember if he had the baby or if he jumped but remember him going into labour.
