If they run out you could always get from Argos outlet (UK)on ebay for 27.94 pounds total and add 3.50 euro for parcel motel.
Probably works out at around the same.

These are great phones for the elderly - I'd picked up the clam shell one for my father earlier this year on Amazon.

Worked out around €73 - also reduced on Argos at the moment @ €65 - the old man swears by it: http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5188635.htm

I got that one for my mum on Tesco Mobile. She is a total technophobe but found it easy to use that one - she was never able to use any of the old Nokia's I had. Only 1c/minute to call UK landlines with Tesco Mobile and she is abusing it goodo.

Bought the older flip model a couple of years back for my mother - easy to use phone with simple menu for those who just want to be contactable. battery etc still perfect.

Agreed on the flip version of this. Easy to operate for the oldies. My mum in her 80s can use it no bother. I think it's even hearing aid compatible.
Big buttons, clear screen, long battery life (remember that lol?), perfect for her.

Would this be suitable for kids also? was thinking of getting it as a first mobile phone for an 11 year old.

No definitely not. They are not very "cool". More of an old person phone.

I would reckon your kid will hate you for life for getting them a Doro. The embarrassment will kill them. A simple Nokia 100 or something like that might be best if you only want them to have talk and text or a Huawei introductory smartphone like the Y201 that Tesco Mobile have.

    Hi,
I would second that about getting the kid a Doro.
I would recommend Huawei G510 vodafone ( switch any number and get for 129euro). Get unlocked for 5euro if want different network.
Brilliant phone for price( I have owned Samsung Galaxy S and Nokia Lumia 800).
Bought one for mysellf and my 12year son.
He just uses viber or whatsapp at home on Wifi (make sure you turn off 3G) so keeps cost down.
    Great phone..

If you are planning on using the kids mobile for texting with viber or whatsapp then Tesco Mobile is the best network as data costs PAYG are only 2c/MB download Nimbuzz or another operator for cheap phonecalls.

thanks - i managed to pick up a 345gsm older model which is candybar shape with bluetooth - would anyone know the cheapest way to get a car charger for one of these phones? the wall charger looks like the older (thicker) nokia phone charger but we tried it in a nokia phone and it wouldnt charge it.. so i guess nokia car chargers wont work either?

If your brother is a kid in school (rather than an elderly technophobe) he is going to die a social death among his peers with a Doro. However if he is elderly and not into technology it is the ideal phone as even my mother can use it - and that's saying something.

Do any phones on the Doro range work with the Three network? I need to use that network only. I checked the Doro Phone Easy 621 - says 3G but I'm not sure. Can anybody tell me for sure?
    Thanks,
    J.

All unlocked/sim free phones will work with any European phone network including "three Ireland"

3 uses a 3G network not a 2G network although it has roaming agreements in place in some areas. You will need a 3g phone.

Have a look at this model on amazon.co.uk. 3g is displayed on the screens.

It has roaming agreements across Ireland so yes it should work. I'm on 3 and there are precious few blackspots for 2g. The sim may require a 3g phone though.
