Volvo S40 Turning indicators problem

    Hey,
    I have a 2008 Volvo S40 petrol and yesterday the indicator stopped working. The bulbs are not flashing and the light on the dashboard is not lighting up either. The right turning indicator only works for 2 seconds unless I put pressure on it. Money is fairly tight at the moment so was hoping to fix it myself but don't really have an idea where to start. Any help would be appreciated.
