Volunteer Work in South Africa

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a problem I have. I booked a month of volunteer work with an organisation called Wildlife ACT from the 6th of July until the 6th of August. I booked the trip through a company called AVIVA. I recently found out that they passed on the wrong dates to Wildlife ACT and asked me to go a month earlier instead. This is not possible due to flights, vaccines, exam results and commitments I've made to other people.

I have been speaking to a very helpful woman who works for Wildlife ACT and she is doing everything she can to see if I (and a friend I'm travelling with) can still be accommodated in July. However, I haven't heard back from her in over a week now. I feel like it could be a good sign - surely if it was unworkable she would have given up and told me there's nothing she can do by now? All the same, if this doesn't work out, it will leave me with very little time to find somewhere else to go. I won't get a full refund on my flights, I don't know if I'll get much of a refund at all to be honest. So I've decided I will still go on those dates and would like to have some sort of back up plan.

So has anyone done animal related volunteer work in South Africa and could you recommend anywhere that might not already be booked up?
