It will be 30 years since the 1983 raids this weekend, the new Nova and Sunshine are nothing like the orignal stations, I remember them both, was a young lad then, 5 years ago there was a tribute to Nova on 1395am 92 and 99.5Fm any plans this weekend ? also the TV3 programme on Nova went out 5 years ago, lets all head down to Herbert St at 6pm Saturday and blow our car horns long and loud or head to Nova Park Stocking lane.

It was a shame that pirate radio in Ireland was closed down. But then it was a threat to the crooks in power.

Remember it well, myself & the GF were there, everybody beeping their horns as they drove past (we drove past several times).
At the time Nova was unbeatable on the FM waveband (In Dublin/Ireland). Happy days, happy memories, and I think I actually
have an original Radio Nova car sticker in a drawer, somewhere :)

I'd gladly take a couple off of you. The one on my old car is too fragile to move over :)

I was told once that John O'Hara kept a roll of them in his desk and he'd give them out to his staff for good performance!

If you trust me with your details, PM me and I'll stick some in the post. They're not the original small 846 stickers, they are the 819 ones from 1983.

It could be argued that it was the crooks in power that kept the pirates on air at the time.

LOVED the breakfast show.....Sybil Fennell, Bob Gallico and Declan ? Murray?? Was devastated when it was closed down and remember driving round Stephen's Green, car horn beeping. Was 21 then. Thought life would never be the same again.

It wasn't exactly closed down, it was illegal and the rules where made more stringent. In my opinion they wouldn't have lasted into the modern era, market would have become saturated with rubbish.
