TV Licence for less than a year ?

I received a letter named to the occupier that I have to pay for a licence because they did observe evidence of TV set. However, I am going to leave Ireland after about 2 months " the end of July". Should I buy the 12 months licence or there are another options less than 12 months ?
What about if I asked the landlord to take the TV?

Request the evidence they observed. Once you get that back you can tell them that there was a broken TV in your house but you dont have an account with UPC or SKY. They will argue that your TV has a receiver and is capable of receiving a signal. You can then reply this is not possible since the digital switch off.

Your 2 months should be up by then.

    Incorrect Advice.

You can buy TV license stamps at the post office - not sure how they work but presumably you buy one a month or some such period of time
    see: http://www.anpost.ie/AnPost/MainContent/Personal+Customers/More+from+An+Post/TV+Licence/

That might be a solution for you. - there is also the likelihood as to whether or not they can enforce the payment and fine within 2 months - but that is a different matter.

If it is addressed to the occupier, then just ignore it. You would be crackers to pay for a tv licence when your leaving in two months.

The Stamps are just a pointless savings scheme, not a TV licence. So no use.
You can transfer unused portion to a different person at same address or yourself at a different Irish Address.

How long have you watched TV BEFORE getting the letter?

I'm going to close this thread (a) because we have a rule that all TV Licensing queries go in one thread and (b) the thrust of the advice given seems to be on the side of evasion which we can't really allow..
