Help changing from Blogger to Wordpress

    Hi guys,

I have had a fairly basic blog on Blogger for the past 2 years and I've wanted to switch to Wordpress for the past while (I prefer the look of wordpress blogs and I hear that they have much more features etc available, never mind being more user friendly). I am not a tech head but have a basic understanding of how to do things computer-wise!

    Anyway, my main questions are:

    1. Is there a way of transferring my Blogger blog to a new Wordpress one without having to copy and paste everything?

    2. I bought a domain name for a tenner through Blogger recently (with eNom) for the year, so it's now www.rakeofcakes.com rather than www.rakeofcakes.blogspot.ie. Can I transfer this address to the new wordpress blog or is it stuck on the blogger one?

Thanks a mil ... oh and I don't really understand any html stuff so I'd reeeeeally appreciate a dumned down answer if possible!! :)

    Thanks again,
    Ruth

Yes, the prrocess is explained here: http://blogger-hints-and-tips.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/using-custom-domain-for-something-other.html

TBH, it scares me when someone says " don't really understand any html stuff so I'd reeeeeally appreciate a dumned down answer " but is switching to Wordpress. Please make sure that your WP installation, and any plug-ins that you use, are kept up to date with the latest WP releases.

If you don't understand what this means, and cannot

    1) Google enough to learn how to do it, and
    2) Committ to keeping it done for the life of your blog

then really you should re-consider moving.

WP is a great took but isn't for dummies unless you use the non-custom domain WP hosted option.

I'll be honest, until I started using the links yee gave me and looking it up more, I had NO IDEA how much knowledge you need before setting up wordpress blog. I just loved all of the wordpress blogs that I've seen that are self hosted ... they have a really sleek look about them. But I'd say a lot of the ones that I looked up (usually food related ones!) are put together and managed by a professional ... I would say!

My plan is to keep going with the one I have and study up on how to properly manage a wordpress self-hosted blog. Thanks for the advice :D
