Quartz E7 Timing Unit Problem

    Hi,

I've been in an apartment for over 3 years (built about 2000) and have never had an issue with the water until this week, when I get up in the morning the water hasn't been heated.

Tested the timer by turning the dial around to see if the unit comes to life and it doesn't unless I slightly touch the side of the dial...then the Off Peak light comes on. So I gathered that maybe the elements inside the unit were maybe loose, so this morning I got up when the unit was meant to kick in and sure enough the light hadn't come on. I touched the side of the dial and presto, the light came on......got back into bed....but the water hadn't heated.

During all of this the boost heater still works fine.

Any advice on this? Could it be the timing unit itself (although it keeps time fine). Is it maybe the heating thermostat on the boiler (I know that the two units are the correct way around)? Am I best just getting a sparky in to look at it?

    Thanks
