    Hi guys.
I hope ye can help. I use a sky dish for my free to air. The dish is on the south side of the house which is very open. So when it's windy the dish gets quite a beaten. Basically i find myself having to realign the dish a few times a year. Last time i did it was February and it's gone again.
I was wondering would ye recommend a dish that has better clamps and will hold for longer. I was told triax dishes have the best clamps. Is this true?

Ive got a triax dish 880mm or so and its fantastic. No issues ever compared to replacing a sky dish every year due to rust etc. No break up in heavy rain and still keeps full bars for signal in all weathers and it only cost about 50 quid.

Replace every Year?? I've had the same Sky dish for 10 years without any need to realign/replace; perfect reception too.

Are you in the wilds of the west of ireland? One year they last here - the standard black dish with the holes. If I go to town on it with denso tape to protect the bottom of the arm, you might get 2 to 3 years but in open windy areas, they are not really worth installing.

Standard Sky dishes perform well enough, but they seem poorly made to keep down costs for Sky, because they are so hard up, poor dears.

I would definetly recommend a Triax dish if you continiously need to realign your dish will cost a lot more than a sky dish but worth it.

It seems very hard to get the mesh type of dish from triax. Do ye think the solid one will stand up to the wind. Im told it will because of the clamp design. It's supposed to be a far better design than the sky dish clamp.

I re-align my own dish even though i hate going up the ladder.

There's little difference in wind load, and the Triax TD series mast clamp is very strong.

I have never had to realign a triax dish ever, they are sturdy and clamps are tough going. Highly recommend one to any1 that has problems with dishes continously moving or near coastal areas.

Thanks for the help lads. I'll have to get my hands on a triax dish so.

There is no difference at all in the wind load presented by a solid dish and a perforated dish. (A "mesh" dish is made of wire mesh.)
