Have I been conned by this garage?

I have limited knowledge of cars and am just looking for some advice before I call my garage (a well known company)

In April 2011 my car (a 2003 polo) passed it's NCT no problems following a new suspension part "TD410W" and some cv boots.

In July 2012 following some problems my car got another new suspension part " TC1428" and some more cv boots.

Now today less than 12 months later my car has failed it's NCT due to the Front Axle being way off and my cv boots being torn/frayed.

Can all this work really not last this long.

I rarely travel beyond a 20 mile radius and cannot fathom how I can fork out over 600 quid (not including servicing) in 2 years for it to need more suspension....

    Any advice much appreciated

Get a second opinion from another garage first I'd say. CV boots should last much longer than that but sometimes the ol NCT like's to stretch the truth on occasion in my experience anyhow.

CV boots should last 50k miles minimum as should CV joints. Generally they never need changing but its not uncommon for them to be replaced.

Cheap CV boots don't last, sounds like this is the problem here. How much were you charged for the boots (just the part not the labour)

Thanks all, I'm just bewildered. The last time the boots were changed I was charged 105.72 but I think that includes labour.

The unit price on my receipt is 52.86 but I'm nearly sure they all quote all parts inclusive of fitting.
