Would I end up with different shades of blonde?

I currently have a full head light blonde highlights that have about 6 months growth, not very noticable because I have dark blonde hair naturally and instead of paying for these I want to box dye my hair. I've bought this http://www.boots.com/en/John-Frieda-Precision-Foam-extra-light-beige-blonde-10B_1150448/ Which is the colour of my highlights, but I'm wondering because my roots no longer have the colour, will I be left with a different colour on the top of my head? :o

Where highlights are concerned, I really think you're better off going to a hairdresser. I wouldn't be surprised if your roots ended up a different colour to the rest of your hair; the strength of the bleach in a box dye is probably different to what they use in the salon.

I wouldn't do my own highlights tbh :)

    Ah okay :)

Well even so, I still think it'd be really hard to match your roots to the rest of your hair with a box dye. I dye my own hair a lot, and even when I'm using the same colour each time, my roots don't always match up completely, and I tend to stick to browns as it is.

It's up to yourself, but with 6 months of regrowth to match up, I don't think a box dye would really work.

I'd imagine yes, your roots will be darker than the highlighted hair. Many years ago, I used dye my hair from a box. I've light brown hair, and my roots used go almost ginger but the previously dyed hair went the correct colour.

strand test would help, mix a small amount of colour and dye a few strands from root to tip, and a few just at roots. If the colour looks good on the strand test I'd imagine if you dye the roots first then saturate the rest for last third of development time you should get a pretty good, but still multi-tonal result. That's what I've done in the past but you really need to get the tones right!
I've used that John Freida colour in the past, although in a brunette shade, and found it very drying so make sure you rinse it very well, don't leave it on the tips too long and lash on the moisturiser for a good 10 mins before rinsing
