Are you in Dublin? If so, you can try Ovale on Lower Gardiner Street. They let you sample some flavours etc. The juices they have available to sample are only 12MG though, so you won't get anywhere near the throat hit you are used to, or potentially expecting. However, if you get some 20 or 24mg e-liquid as suggested above; that will give you a better throat hit.
I would recommend an eGo Twist battery and a Kanger Evod tank, along with some higher nic juice as a good place to start.
Should cost you about the same as 3-4 packs of smokes.
    There are many options.
I started on cig-style battery/cartomizer setup but it didn't last long as I wanted more, and realized I had wasted some money, in a way, although it was a good learning curve and helped manage my expectations about what e-cigs could, and couldn't, offer.
There are some fundamental compromises you have to cede to, for example, you need have to completely change your inhale habit; you don't draw hard on the e-cigs like a tobacco cigarette, you let the battery do the work there for you and you will get a much more satisfying vape.
Hope that helps, and good luck!

Ovale do up to 16mg on their liquids. For a 40 a day I'd say you'd need stronger, but it will give you an idea of the whole thing at least!

E Smoke Ireland will possibly accomondate you popping in too, they are incredibly sound. They're in Palmerstown. http://www.e-smokeireland.eu

Vaperus is in Cavan and you can pop in for a coffee and a vape! Seems like a very sound guy, haven't bought anything yet, but might do soon! http://www.vaperus.ie
