Court summons for not displaying discs

Basically, I was stopped about a year ago at a checkpoint for not displaying any discs while driving. The car belongs to my boyfriend but I was using it at the time. The tax had expired about a month previously and the NCT wasn't current either. I was insured, I actually have a certificate for the car in my name. The insurance disc was out of date as it had just expired and my new disc literally was lost in the post. I had the new disc a few days later and the car was taxed immediately. The car however went un-Nct'd.
A year later I get a summons to appear, in 7 days, in court. I can produce the insurance cert and receipt that the car was taxed. I'm just wondering will this help or what will actually happen in court? Also I'm pretty sure I am responsible for ensuring the car is taxed and nct'd if I'm driving but I'm wondering will they be any lighter on me as I do not own the car?
    Any advice appreciated!

Nct would be your only issue really if you were insured and taxed it immediately at that time.
It was rather foolish to not nct it after being stopped by gardai.
Were you asked to produce these documents in 10 days when you were stopped?
If so, did you actually produce anything?

Considering that driving without NCT and without insurance is mandatory court appearance you have been summoned for all 3. Considering you have tax and insurance they will likely strike that out, but no NCT carries 5 points on conviction and a court fine.

    Was the car never NCT-ed???

The experts for me that I know who how to deal with very busy courts systems in the real world for most any issue is at www.tnsradio.ning.com.
They normally explain the right kind of letter to send back for these type of very minor transgressions when you get court summons and most times the return letter to you says the court case is cancelled no need to appear
Doesn't work so well for serious crap like drinking and driving but court system is so chock a block the right letter usually allows the very busy court systems to get off the hook and let you go and then they can book somebody else who did really bad stuff into the busy court schedules
