Swapping Wii U HD Question

    Hi,

I'm thinking of picking up a Wii U. I really like the white model although the 8GB storage is really a drawback. Is it easy to swap out the HD for a bigger one?

What are the other downsides of purchasing the white model as opposed to the black?

There is no HD in the Wii U, it's flash memory as far as I can remember.
You can connect up an external (powered!) hard disk drive though.

Get the 8GB if you prefer white.

    The differences:
No 5% back on eShop purchases. (This ends at Christmas - https://p.nintendo.net/premium)
    No Nintendoland.
    It's White.

The 8GB internal storage shouldn't be a factor, as even if you buy the black which has 32, if you buy 2 or 3 games from the eShop you've reached your limit.
Well, it's probably more than 2 or 3, but you know what I mean.
You can get a cheap 2.5 or 3.5 hard drive and use that just the same on both.
Upgrading the storage doesn't require you to open the console at all, it's purely USB hard drives connected to one of the 4 usb ports.

Cheers! White it is so. Who cares about all the negativity currently surrounding the Wii U. I'm off to get me some Mario! Although I may wait until after E3 just to see if there's a price cut etc.

Yeah I'd say wait for e3, or even keep a look out for temporary price drops. Asda drpooed the price to £149 a few weeks ago and Amazon price matched them and they've done similar previously. Maybe keep an eye on the Wii U bargain alerts thread as they're generally posted there.
