This looks like a good deal, allows charging of multiple items in the car.
Particularly handy if you have kids who need to power their stuff at the same time or if you have a screen mounted in the back of the car.

I am not sure if it will power an ipad but you could try??

Not really a bargain - it was in that price for moths both Aldi and Lidl.

If you don't mind waiting for delivery, here is a similar one for €2.15 delivered. (Has 1 less usb socket than the Aldi one.)

It's handy, I bought 2 the last time they were on sale.
One gave up after a few weeks though....

    Excellent spot!
Probably good idea to get two just in case.
There is hardly a risk that these chinese ones would catch fire or anything is there?
It is also 5V so it won't charge the ipad...

    :P:P:P:P:P
they all made-in-china, probably even from one factory, just branded separately for Lidl, Aldi and whoever...

It's not the voltage which is fixed, but rather the ampage that you need to consider. Standard rating is 500mA but the ipad needs a 2amp output to charge.

Thanks for the informed post Zarquon but I haven't a clue what that means!

All the usb adapters are the same voltage i.e 5V.
Small adapters can only output 500ma ( i.e 0.5 amps) which means high powered equipment i.e with a big battery like the ipad will either not charge or charge really slowly, on a 500ma charger, as the battery needs a 2 amp charger to charge in it's specified time.

    Thakns Zimmerframe,

    Appreciate it.
In short so, this unit will not successfully charge the ipad (It will do what the PC does - really slow) but there are specific ones that can do the job in the car?

Just as well ye replied, I was going to buy 2 of the ones "Do-more" found on buyincoins!

If i used one of those 2amp rated output ones to charge a gadget rated under 2amp (one gadget takes a 1.3amp charger and the other takes 1amp charger), would the 2amp output damage the gadgets?

cant really let those 2amp usb socket chargers on buy in coins go by at $1.70!

Yes - you can use the 2A one to power the gadget that requires 1.3A or 1A.
The gadget draws only the amperage A it needs from the maximum amperage available.
